National New Deal Preservation Association This is the official page of the NNDPA. Our national office is in Santa Fe, N.M., and our mailing address is P.O. Box 602, Santa Fe, NM 87504-0602.

We are non-profit organizations dedicated to the education, promotion and preservation of the New Deal legacy in the United States. We are a group of individuals, agencies, facilities and programs that organized in December 1998 to promote the identification, documentation, preservation and education of people about the New Deal visual and performing arts, literature, crafts, structures and environmental projects. We can be reached at 505-473-3985 or by cell at 505-690-5845. Our email address is [email protected]. Our logo, which appears throughout the website, was created by Jim Pirkl of Albuquerque, N.M. and depicts so well the various segments of the New Deal projects that Americans worked together on between 1933-43 to save this nation. We are still reaping the benefits of their labors. Hopefully by viewing this website, you will be desirous of joining us in learning more about preserving those beneficial New Deal treasures and also sharing your knowledge about the New Deal accomplishments from your family stories or your career experiences. We hope to hear from you.

The New Mexico Chapter of the National Preservation Association will have its next “‘Fireside Chat” this Sunday June 11th.

This “Fireside Chat” will be held at the NM Military Museum at 1050 Old Pecos Trail in Santa Fe at 3 p.m. and our speaker is Kermit Hill, a retired Santa Fe History teacher and member of at least three NM history related Boards including ours. Hill will share his vast and varied knowledge about this Era and plans to focus on some of the harsh realities of nature and other challenges that New Mexicans experienced during that Era as did he growing up in W**d, NM during that time. That southern part of the state hasn’t gotten as much exposure as some of our more popular areas of the state but there surely will be interesting and possibly unknown information provided.

The program will be held at the NM Military Museum at 3 p.m. We are pleased to be having this program at this facility since the building itself is a New Deal Treasure having been built in 1930’s by New Mexicans on the Works Progress Administration (WPA)program. It will also give some of us the opportunity to also view the interesting collection of this museum so it will most likely be “a two-for- one” enjoyable adventure. There is no charge, but donations are accepted by this non-profit group. There will be some interesting items for sale.

If you are able to be in Santa Fe, we would love to see you.
