Why We Need a Bio Reverie:
We want to study the biodiversity of our region and improve our Citizen Science endeavors in Northern New Mexico. Improving biodiversity information and studies allows for more and more accurate research studies to be conducted.
Cienegas are unique and rare in the Southwest, and are disappearing due to misuse and invasive species. We are extremely lucky to have a cienega near Santa Fe and it is our duty to preserve this unique resource for our local flora and fauna. There are species that are found in cienegas that are not found elsewhere in the Santa Fe region – dragonflies, unique birds, invertebrates, and unique vegetation.
