Why We Need a Bio Reverie:
We want to study the biodiversity of our region and improve our Citizen Science endeavors in Northern New Mexico. Improving biodiversity information and studies allows for more and more accurate research studies to be conducted.

Cienegas are unique and rare in the Southwest, and are disappearing due to misuse and invasive species. We are extremely lucky to have a cienega near Santa Fe and it is our duty to preserve this unique resource for our local flora and fauna. There are species that are found in cienegas that are not found elsewhere in the Santa Fe region – dragonflies, unique birds, invertebrates, and unique vegetation.

About Dancing Star Foundation:

Thanks to a grant from the Native Plant Society New Mexico, we're collaborating with Sandia High School AP Environmental Science students and teacher Jason Roback to grow native plants. Over the past two weeks, students have planted more than 5,000 conetainers of cota or Navajo tea (Thelesperma megapotamicum), white prairie clover (Dalea candida), and showy milkweed (Asclepias subverticillata). The cota and prairie clover will be planted in seed production fields in Bernalillo County, and the milkweed will be used in restoration plantings and pollinator gardens in the area. One week in and the milkweed is looking super happy! Coati Pond GTG
