The 2026 Photography Award Winner is Jared Ragland, for his series ‘WHAT HAS BEEN WILL BE AGAIN’.

This body of work will be exhibited at Foto Forum Santa Fe on June 5th, 2026 through July 25th, 2026. The opening reception will be on Friday, June 5th, 2026 from 5PM to 7PM.

WHAT HAS BEEN WILL BE AGAIN
Alabama has known a deep and complex history. From Indigenous genocide to slavery and secession, and from the fight for civil rights to the championing of MAGA ideology, the national history written on, in, and by the people and landscapes of Alabama reveal problematic patterns at the nexus of larger American identity. Working deep in territory considered a repository of national repressions, What Has Been Will Be Again has led Jared Ragland across more than 35,000 miles and into each of Alabama’s 67 counties to trace routes connected to brutal colonial legacies—including the path of Hernando de Soto’s 1540 expedition, the Trail of Tears, and the Old Federal Road.

Hey everyone, it’s Natalia, the programs coordinator here at Foto Forum Santa Fe. Today I had Sage give me a short lesson on shutter speed, iso, and aperture. For a long time I had a vague understanding of how these tools work, but thanks to Sage I have a better grasp on them. He told me to think about these concepts through the lens of a gallon water bucket that must be filled, taking into consideration the size of our faucet and how long it must be open for. The size of our faucet—aperture—and how much light it lets in.

What are concepts that helped you learn how to use these tools?

Deadline is tonight at midnight MT The 2026 Foto Forum Santa Fe Photography Award is a wonderful opportunity for established and emerging artists to share their work with the photographic community.

Don’t miss your chance to win a solo exhibition in downtown Santa Fe in a lively art community. As well as $2,500 in cash and prizes.

This year’s Juror, Ray Potes, will choose the winner based on creativity, cohesion, maturity, and quality of the work.

The award winner will receive a two month solo exhibition in our gallery located in the Railyard district in downtown Santa Fe and $2,500 in Cash and Prizes: $1,000 Cash Prize, $1,500 Gift Certificate to Visions Photo Lab, plus a $500 stipend towards delivering the work to the gallery and having the work returned to the artist.

The results for this award will be announced in mid-April and the show to open June 5th, 2026.

We also think it is encouraging to know that our executive director Sage Paisner has identified artists that have been added to our gallery roster who entered but did not win the award. We highly encourage you to take the time and effort to apply.
