Backpack Buddy will be returning after the summer break. For the 2026 - 2027 school year we will again be providing bags of weekend nutrition to students struggling with weekend food insecurity. The bags contain various items of shelf stable ready to eat kid friendly food products. If you know of a student that is struggling with weekend food insecurity please talk to your campus counselor. This will be the start of our 14th year of service and we are ready to get back together.

We are always looking for volunteers. This is such an easy way to serve the students of Santa Fe ISD. We meet for about an hour and a half each Wednesday to pack the bags of food items. Please join us at 9:30 am at Aldersgate UMC, 13217 FM 1764 . You do not have to commit to helping every week. We have a group of about 25 individuals but attendance fluctuates and about 18 volunteers show up each week.

As the 2025 - 2026 school year comes to a close we want to thank all of our volunteers as well as all of the individuals, organizations, and businesses that contribute financially to Backpack Buddy throughout the year. We have been serving more than 270 students each week as we distribute weekend nutrition bags to students at the 5 Santa Fe ISD campuses.
We hope everyone has a much deserved summer break. When students and staff return in August campus counselors will begin working to identify students that need to weekly receive bags of shelf stable kid friendly food items.
As a 501(c) nonprofit we are always looking for volunteers and donors. Join us in making Santa Fe Strong!!!!
