Huge thanks to the 12 volunteers who spent 4+ hours rehabbing 1.1 miles of Weller's Wiggle at Galisteo Basin Preserve on October 3rd! The crew added 31 erosion-control features, including grade reversals and drains to direct water off the trail before it can do any damage. They used rock armoring to stop erosion of two crossing arroyos that almost took out the trail during the September deluge of rain. And filled more than 400 feet of tire-grabbing ruts.

The trail is riding great! Brent’s, Rocky Road, and White Rock Grotto are also in good shape. Trails near Cottonwood need more attention, so stay tuned for an upcoming work day.

We had a great Trail Work Day at Galisteo Basin Preserve last Saturday, putting in some much-needed work on Weller’s Wiggle. A huge thanks to the 12 volunteers who gave their time and energy so we can all enjoy these trails. 🙌

There’s still more work to be done, so if you haven’t joined us yet, please consider signing up for a half day of rewarding trail work. We’ll post future opportunities here.

🌧️ Give back to the trails you love!

Join us Saturday, October 3 (8:30am - 1:00pm) at Galisteo Basin Preserve for a Trail Work Day. Sign up required: sffts.org/signup.

With all the recent rain, the trails have softened and water is starting to create runnels. We’ll focus on grade reversals and drains to get water off the trails before it can cause damage. We’ll also armor a few small arroyos to keep them from getting deeper.

These are the local trails that provide some of the best riding opportunities throughout the fall, winter, and spring, so let’s get them dialed and ready!

No experience required—we’ll teach you! Most of the work will be on trails within walking distance, so no bikes are needed.

Come spend a few hours helping keep our trails in great shape.
