Want to take better photos of your artwork?
Learn how to create stronger, more professional-looking images using the camera you already have in your hand—your smartphone! Chris Nail, Head of Education for the New Mexico Museum of Art is giving a talk on how to take better photos of your artwork with your smartphone.
This introductory session covers practical tips on context, framing, composition, angles, lines, focus, lighting, exposure, flash, and simple mobile editing. We’ll also explore when to use color versus black-and-white photography to best showcase your work. These fundamentals apply to any camera, so the skills you gain will improve all of your photography—not just images of your art. You’ll also get familiar with common camera controls and editing tools found in most smartphone apps.
This may be the only class you ever take where you’re encouraged to play with your phone!
