Last month, community members, local leaders, and housing experts from across New Mexico gathered for the 100% Guadalupe Housing Summit to explore solutions that help ensure Guadalupe County residents have access to safe, affordable housing. The summit featured presentations on rural housing challenges and opportunities, statewide housing resources, and strategies for local planning and implementation. It also opened with powerful reflections from New Mexico Poet Laureate Manuel Gonzalez, who reminded participants that "everyone deserves a safe place to live."

The summit is part of the broader work of 100% Guadalupe, a collaborative initiative focused on ensuring that all children, students, and families in Guadalupe County can access the ten vital services needed to thrive.

With grant support from the Anchorum Community Health Fund, a donor advised fund held at NMCF, the initiative has hired a community navigator, expanded efforts to address transportation barriers, launched community conversations around healthy food access, and convened this important housing summit.

At NMCF, we're proud to steward charitable investments that help rural communities identify local solutions and build healthier, more resilient futures. By bringing residents, nonprofits, local governments, and other stakeholders together, Guadalupe County is demonstrating the power of community-led change.

Throwback Thursday | Then & Now

In 2013, as we celebrated 30 years of serving New Mexico, our message was simple: Together We Thrive.

More than a decade later, that belief continues to guide everything we do.
Today, we're building on that legacy through our Thriving New Mexico funding priorities.

While our look has changed, our commitment has not. For more than 40 years, the New Mexico Community Foundation has connected people, resources, and local leadership to help communities thrive.

From rural communities and tribal nations to small towns and urban centers, we've worked alongside New Mexicans in all 33 counties to strengthen the places we call home. As the state's only statewide community foundation, we know that thriving communities don't happen by accident. They happen when people come together: Then. Now. Always.

Before formally announced its New Mexico funding priorities, the Anchorum Community Health Donor Advised Fund was already putting many of those values into practice. As a donor advised fund, it supports nonprofit working in rural, Tribal and Pueblo communities where health is shaped not only by access to care, but also by housing stability, food security, early learning, emergency assistance and community self-determination.

That makes the fund an important part of NMCF’s larger story. The recently announced Thriving New Mexico priorities—Thriving Rural, Thriving Environments and Thriving Indigenous—do not signal the beginning of this work. Instead, they give clearer language and direction to commitments NMCF has carried for years: listening to communities, resourcing locally led solutions and strengthening the conditions that allow New Mexicans to thrive.

A Unifying Vision for Community-Led Philanthropy Across the State

SANTA FE, N.M. — July 24, 2026 — New Mexico Community Foundation (NMCF), the trusted statewide philanthropic partner connecting people, capital and communities to build a thriving New Mexico, announced Thriving New Mexico, a unifying vision that will guide the Foundation’s grantmaking, partnerships and philanthropic investment through three interconnected funding priorities: Thriving Rural, Thriving Environments and Thriving Indigenous.
