TNC New Mexico recently hosted a fire training at the Santa Fe office 🔥🌲

The free, impromptu event was organized by our Prescribed Fire Specialist Will, who brought together fire partners during heavy rains that prevented them from working outside. The awesome turnout, which included Pueblo of Tesuque, Picuris Pueblo, Philmont Scout Ranch, Forest Stewards Guild Youth Corps & Staff, as well as TNC North America Fire, demonstrates the strong need for qualified instruction in the area. Thank you to all for participating!

The 13-acre Rattlesnake Springs Preserve near Carlsbad is considered one of the most diverse birding hotspots in New Mexico, with more than 330 recorded bird species. Great blue herons, like this visitor, take advantage of the insects, shelter, and dependable water provided by the springs.

The Colorado River Basin is facing one of the driest summers on record. 🌡️ Snow that came too little, too late—or not at all—has depleted water supplies heading into the dry season.
