We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of Coach Steven Gallegos, a highly respected figure in our northern communities, including the Valley and NNMCSL. He passed away on September 11, 2024, and is now at peace, having fought a courageous battle against cancer. Coach Gallegos was a highly esteemed coach in the league and numerous basketball teams in Las Vegas and surrounding areas. He was also the founder of the Rattlesnakes football team in Ribera, NM, and served in various capacities, including commissioner and senior referee. Despite his illness, he remained dedicated and continued to referee games with unwavering enthusiasm. His contributions to the league are immeasurable, and we dedicate the '24-'25 seasons to his memory. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, especially his children and granddaughters, and honor his unwavering spirit, which inspired us all to persevere in the face of adversity.
