THE GOLDMAN CASE
Sun. Dec. 8, 3:20 p.m. at Violet Crown Cinema, reserved seating.
In November 1975 in Paris the appeal hearing of Jewish far-left activist Pierre Goldman, played by Cesar Award-winner Arieh Worthalter, commences. Sentenced to life imprisonment for four armed robberies, one of which resulted in the death of two women, Goldman pleads not guilty to the murder charges.
The massively-covered court proceedings surprisingly turns Goldman into a romantic figure and a hero of the intellectual left. Ever the agitator for his ideals, the elusive and mercurial Goldman throws his own trial into chaos, risking a death sentence. The film paints a psycho-pathological portrait of a militant revolutionary.
