Cancer Foundation for New Mexico To help the people of Northern New Mexico navigate their cancer journey with hope, dignity, and needed support.

The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico (CFFNM) is a local, independent non-profit organization formed in 2003 whose mission is to help save lives by providing the needed support to enable every northern New Mexican with cancer to access treatment in Santa Fe. We assist by underwriting travel, housing and meal expenses associated with prescribed treatment. Additionally, we address the need for emotional support by providing free weekly cancer support groups for patients, their families and caregivers. We supply trained volunteer support during treatment, and also offer Spanish speaking interpreters during diagnostic procedures.

Metastatic breast cancer is breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast. It is not curable, but it is treatable – and many people live full, meaningful lives for years with ongoing care and support.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re reflecting on this year’s Gathering for Native American Cancer Care. 💛

Native patient navigators, providers, and community leaders shared practical guidance and support that honored culture and community. The Gathering is one day, but the work continues all year, helping Native patients and families find the care and information they need throughout their cancer journey. 🌄

📣 Navigating RECA: Information & Q&A

This Saturday, join Tina Cordova and Gina Grimes for an important conversation about the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and what it means for New Mexico families.

Tina Cordova, Co-Founder of the Tularosa Basin Downwinders Consortium, has spent years advocating for families affected by radiation exposure from the Trinity Site and working to secure health care and compensation for those impacted.

Gina Grimes, with the New Mexico Environment Department’s Nuclear Workers’ Advocacy Office, helps current and former nuclear workers and their families navigate federal compensation programs and access available resources and support.

Together, Tina and Gina will provide information about RECA, answer questions, and help attendees better understand the resources available to them.

Join us for this important conversation and a full day of connection and support at the Gathering for Native American Cancer Care 2026.
