Experience a soulful evening of indigenous music on the sacred, peaceful, enchanting land of the Chi Center, Galisteo, enveloped by trees, expansive views, labyrinths, graceful adobe architecture, & the healing Chi field created by Qigong Master Mingtong Gu and his students. 5 gifted female voices will grace us with musical offerings from their various indigenous heritages, a form of prayers and healing for the Earth and all its inhabitants.
Joanne And Leah Shenendoah’s music is rooted in their aboriginal Oneida Iroquois Wolf Clan Heritage. “The most critically acclaimed Native American singer of her time”(Associated Press), Joanne Shenendoah, Ph.D, is a grammy award-winning artist, composer, acoustic guitarist, educator, peace ambassador. She will be joined by her daughter Leah, award winning singer, songwriter, artist, jeweler.
Madi Sato is a singer, teacher, and ceremonialist of Ainnu, indigenous Japanese and Irish heritage, whose mother followed Cherokee spiritual ways. Her medicine songs and chants of and to the Earth and waters are expressions of praise from our hearts for the physical, emotional and spiritual gifts from the Earth, with the power to heal us all. She leads song circles to enable women to awaken their voices’ full potential, & is co-founder with her husband, poet Timothy McLaughlin, of Praising Earth, based in Santa Fe, NM.
Maori elders from New Zealand, Elia Paul and Moitu Taha, are song leaders, storytellers, healers, dreamweavers. Both are members of Grandmothers Circle the Earth, composed of women throughout the world who acknowledge, honor and respect the sacred thread held by Grandmothers of all nations, tribes and ethnicities while celebrating our complete diversity as individuals. “We acknowledge ALL our Relations, and we joyfully melt into our Heart Space and acknowledge The Oneness of All.
