Protecting Mother Earth is protecting the health and well-being of indigenous peoples and all humanity.

Proteger la madre tierra es proteger la salud y el bienestar de toda la humanidad y de los pueblosindigenas.

Para los Pueblos Indígenas, garantizar los derechos sobre sus tierras, territorios y recursos es fundamental, no solo para su salud y bienestar en el presente, sino también para fortalecer sus conocimientos, cultura y prácticas de cuidado para las generaciones futuras. Los artículos 3, 4, 25 y 26 de la Declaración de las Naciones Unidas sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas reafirman sus derechos a la libre determinación, así como a sus tierras, territorios, aguas y recursos.

Para los Pueblos Indígenas, garantizar los derechos sobre sus tierras, territorios y recursos es fundamental, no solo para su salud y bienestar en el presente, sino también para fortalecer sus conocimientos, cultura y prácticas de cuidado para las generaciones futuras. Last Saturday, October 11, 2025, we relived the magic and profound connection of memory in DIALOGUE: "The Thread of Memory" at El Museo Cultural De Santa Fe

This monumental event was a celebration of Indigenous folk art from Peru and New Mexico, uniting ancestral traditions in an unforgettable conversation.

Mayta Katari Vizcarra Wood is a Quechua artist from Cusco, Peru. He is a member of the Ñawpa Ñan cultural community of the K**i Kawsay Association- K**i Kawsay Inspired by his Indigenous culture, his artistic expressions mix modern digital technology with traditional techniques. His visual storytelling communicates the beauty of his culture, uplifts Indigenous worldview, and tells of the challenging consequences of colonialism. His work is inspired by Andean aesthetics, making it his own by creating unique modern designs that weave ancestral with contemporary. He is getting his BFA at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, NM

Last Saturday, October 11, 2025, we relived the magic and profound connection of memory in DIALOGUE: "The Thread of Memory" at El Museo Cultural De Santa Fe

This monumental event was a celebration of Indigenous folk art from Peru and New Mexico, uniting ancestral traditions in an unforgettable conversation.

🎤 DIALOGUE FEATURED:
Bob Hoazous: The acclaimed Indigenous artist from New Mexico, sharing his unique vision.

Katari Viscarra: The talented Indigenous artist from Cusco, weaving the thread of Andean memory.

The conversation, masterfully guided by Maria Martínez, Executive Director of El Museo Cultural, was a bridge of understanding and respect.

Join us to celebrate Santa Fe's 20th Anniversary as a UNESCO Creative City with the DIALOGUE "The Thread of Memory" at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe, NM!

This event is the culmination of the exhibition "The Thread of Memory: A Reencounter with the Soul of Peruvian Folk Art" and will serve as a framework to celebrate the "20th Anniversary of Santa Fe as a UNESCO Creative City." It will be presented in a meaningful dialogue that seeks to build cultural bridges, featuring four Indigenous speakers from New Mexico and Peru.
Additionally, the event will feature a performance and rehearsal by the Mexican folk dance group from Santa Fe, an artist from the "Qapaq Ñan" group from Cusco, and another traditional artist from Bolivia.

Connecting Indigenous cultures and arts from New Mexico and Peru, it celebrates the 20th anniversary of Santa Fe's designation by UNESCO as the first Creative City of Folk Arts and Crafts in 2005.
