This funding will help us add an exciting new level to our student internship program—giving interns opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications that build their skills, strengthen their resumes, and help prepare them for future education and careers.

We admire the hands-on, experiential Mission Fission educational field trip program hosted at the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. This collaborative program centers the student-learner experience and is supported by thoughtful design elements influenced by school educators and the museum’s educational staff.

National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is a Fall 2025 recipient of The Encantado Foundation’s Community Based Grant award. This funding program supports efforts that increase to STEM learning opportunities and/or career pathway support in Central and Northern New Mexico.

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Foundation staff attended the 3rd Annual Women in STEM Summit hosted by the New Mexico Out of School Time Network (NMOST). More than 90 individuals from across New Mexico gathered at this Summit held in Albuquerque to network, share their experiences in STEM, asset map STEM resources, listen to leaders from the National Girls Collaborative & Afterschool Alliance, and celebrate 7 outstanding high school and undergraduate students who received a $1,000 scholarship via the Young Women in STEM scholarship program.

A common theme shared during the panel discussions was to seek out mentorship and offer mentorship support. Also added, mentorship is dynamic—it could be long-term and continuous; or short-term, and episodic—all in the spirit of offering meaningful guidance and advice.

The Foundation’s Executive Director, Louis Jeantete, delivered opening remarks and encouraged attendees to utilize the day to nurture their nonprofit & community networks by collaborating, sharing knowledge, and empowering each other to meet & exceed their missions.

The day closed out with the launch of the New Mexico National Girls Collaborative with initial strategic planning.

Special thanks to NMOST’s Planning Committee, Staff, volunteers, partners, and attendees who contributed to a successful summit experience.

Last week, we hosted 47 leaders for another successful round of Speed Networking at Santa Fe Community College’s High Education Center. This event is designed to foster meaningful connections amongst STEM social innovators, educators, and leaders from Central and Northern New Mexico. We appreciate our partnership with Santa Fe Community College (NM) to host these special events.

Each individual participant, representing one of 30 grantee organizations, had an opportunity to share about their organizations and programs, learn from their peers, and explore ways to support one another in advancing their respective missions. We’re grateful for their leadership.

Leaders analyzed their nonprofit business model, shared relevant analog or digital resources, discussed partnership development, named their STEM aspirations, examined their revenue lifecycle phases, and experienced each other’s fellowship.

Attendees represent organizations that deliver STEM specific and/or adjacent STEM workforce development, out of school time education, AI literacy, veterans & military spouses, innovation & networking, adult learning, positive youth development, clubs, community colleges, universities, and charitable support organizations here in New Mexico.

We are proud (and frankly impressed) to share that this past December our youth-led Creative Tech Studio showcased their "Taos Tours" mobile application on TCA Stage 🤩 ! The app was built from concept to MVP by a talented team of 4 youth interns, who committed to a 6-month long intensive program facilitated by UNM-Taos HIVE, in collaboration with TCA and The Encantado Foundation . Students gained hands-on experience in software development, product design, and user experience research – all in service of a locally relevant project that has tangible, positive community impact in Taos. The app is currently in user testing and set to publicly launch in Spring 2026 - so keep an eye out and join us in congratulating this group of next generation Taos creatives and innovators! Way to go, Creative Tech Studio👏 💫 👾 🚀
