Congratulations, David! 🎊

David joined the Marine Corps at just 17 years old with nothing but a duffel bag. After serving on the frontlines of Desert Storm, he returned home carrying the invisible wounds of war. PTSD, substance abuse, and years of housing instability left him struggling to rebuild his life, with every fresh start seeming to end in another setback.

Then came another crisis. After receiving a 90-day notice to vacate his housing, David began searching for a new place to live. As the deadline drew closer, he feared he would once again be without a place to call home. That's when Nation's Finest stepped in. Working alongside his Nation's Finest - Santa Cruz Case Manager, Ashley, David found a new home and had keys in hand within just one week.

Today, David is settling into his new home along the California coast, focused on his health, his recovery, and the future ahead. Looking back on the journey that brought him here, he put it simply: "To me, stability is foundation. I have foundation now."

We joined community partners across Santa Cruz County for the annual Point in Time (PIT) Count to better understand scope of homelessness—information that helps shape resources, funding, and long-term solutions.

It’s a chance to show up. To listen. To meet people where they are.

As an organization that serves Veterans and their families, we used this moment to do what we do best: connect Veterans with services that help them stabilize, rebuild, and stand strong once again.
