Santa Cruz Community Orchard Cultivating community orchard gardens in Santa Cruz, promoting self-reliant food security, ecological land use, and tasty fruit everywhere!

This is a community-led initiative to develop an accessible public food forest in the City of Santa Cruz. This highly participatory cultivated space will invite all of Santa Cruz to reconnect to their food, nourish healthy bodies and healthy dialog, and will promote our local economy of soil, sun, surf, fog, and future-forward ideas.

These are all different Santa Cruz County grown apples, some of the 70+ you'll get to taste tomorrow at the legendary 30-something year apple tasting run by our friends at the Monterey Bay Chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers.

It can be fun and surprising to delve into the range of shapes, colors, scents, flavors, and textures of the world's most diverse temperate fruit crop—and a nice opportunity to celebrate one aspect of our county's agricultural history, held in conjunction with the Santa Cruz Live Oak Grange's Fall Festival and pie contest.
