Fresh Walls Project

Fresh Walls Project Creating a 500' mural on Mission Street in Santa Cruz, California with the Clean Ocean Project and th Well, we would love your involvement! We are taking action!

Fresh Walls Project is a group of environmentally conscious artists from Santa Cruz. In collaboration with the Clean Oceans Project, they are creating a 500’ foot wall on Mission Street, in Santa Cruz, California. The time to raise awareness about the Pacific Ocean plastic epidemic is now! We have a 500' long wall located on the Mission street/Highway 1 corridor that can help us get the word out,

want to be a proud supporter of such an ecosystem based visual arts project? Clean Oceans International, in conjunction with the city of Santa Cruz, proposes a "healthy marine environment" mural for thousands to see on a daily basis! This mural will dynamically beautify a significantly central span of highway 1 as it slows through the city of Santa Cruz. Vivid aquatic colors coupled with the naturally gorgeous array of oceanic wildlife will grace this wall that now lies empty and vandalized. Meaningfully reminding quotations will accompany this new vibrant imagery, raising awareness of the dire situation at hand: man-made waste making its way into our oceans on an hourly basis! Help the cause by donating at cleanoceansinternational.org/donate! Every bit helps to cover the costs of the mural production! The message we plan to share via this 500' beauty will subtlety sound the urgency alarm regarding the negative effects our consumption habits are directly having on our oceans ecosystems and in the same wonderful breath, magnify the hope that something can be done, and IS being done to reverse these effects. A clean up is in motion and needs our momentum! We want the world to know more about it! This mural we are proposing shines light on a top-three placing problem that confronts our global community as a whole. The oceans and seas are essential to maintaining a future that's sustainable and bright for all earth-kind! Each and every organism living is affected by plastic and it's negative drawbacks, Clean Oceans International has a solution to share; a solution to aid the cleanup efforts going on at this very minute! Want to read about the future of turning plastic into diesel fuel?!!! Want to find out more about how you can make a difference?!!! Want to start by becoming a proud supporter of our "healthy marine environment" mural project?!!! Go to CleanOceansInternational.org to educate! And promptly review our mural sponsorship pamphlet to see what denomination suits your family's or business's benefit. Habit change can change habitats! This mural will be a daily reminder to thousands of ocean bound travelers to play a positive part and consciously keep our entire marine sanctuary, each and every ocean and sea, plastic free! Thank you for your consideration, thank you for your gift to our community. Clean Oceans International (COI), a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Santa Cruz, California. ID # 27-1898223

BIG NEWS, Foundation, in partnership with and presented by , is excited to announce our first Artists for Oceans project to take place in Santa Cruz, California!

From June 6-13, our team of international and locals artists will gather in Santa Cruz for ten days to create a series of locally relevant public artworks to help spur ocean environmental activism while beautifying the town’s streetscape. Sea Walls Santa Cruz will be the most significant urban beautification project in Santa Cruz history.

The public artworks will serve as educational tools and conversation-starters, addressing marine environmental issues relevant and of importance to the local community. Our goal is to ignite ownership for the sustainability of natural resources and to build community around the common cause of protecting the region’s ocean and coast for future generations.

Special thanks to Sea Walls Santa Cruz partners The Nell Newman Foundation The Weiner Family Foundation.

I snapped this photo of Tay last weds at our school board meeting ...we were seeking approval to paint the sound wall that surrounds Bay View Elementary here in Santa Cruz.. a 600 foot long wall on Mission street... as some of you know, we’re proposing an ocean themed mural with a message within that raises awareness regarding the plastic debris epidemic plaguing our marine ecosystems... the Santa Cruz city school system owns the wall so we needed their nod... and with help from Lisa at and the brilliance/expertise of Beth Tobey they gave us the green light!! Yes! Fast forward to today: We had another meeting this evening with the Santa Cruz art commission to explain the project and get their approval as well... and again, with the assistance of the AWESOME Beth Tobey, we got it!!! ... Beth, you kick ass!!!! We’ve had this mural project in motion for about a year now and what a roller coaster!! But now it’s TRULY on!!! We are doin backflips!! We’ve got a ways to go regarding fundraising, our final design and gearing up to outline our refined plan to involve the students at Bay View... we are beside ourselves with joy to FINALLY make this dream a reality 🙌 beautification coupled with education is the name of the game. Cheers to a more sustainable future, cheers to awareness and cheers to keeping every Ocean and sea PLASTIC FREE!!! #🐠
