Thanks U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, CALPIRG, and students and canvassers across the nation for leading the charge to create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau! Fun fact: the CFPB has already made credit card companies repay almost $1.5 billion in unfair fees back to their customers!

We got this agency because people across this country fought the big banks and their lobbyists and demanded it. And now this agency is paying off for millions of Americans who have a fighting chance to get treated fairly and, if they don't, they have a fighting chance to do something about it.

On the way home tonight, I bought a cupcake, put three candles on it, and made a wish for the continued independence and strength of the agency. Tomorrow we'll get back to work to make sure no one messes with this agency. Thanks for being part of this.

What gall, congress. More than 90% of the American public support GMO labeling because they have a right to know what's in their food! What is so wrong with that?
