The Lord is still calling young people to serve Him. It takes an invitation for a young person to consider the religious life and the priesthood. Prayer is important and we need to storm Heaven for more vocations to serve the Church and the People of God. It also takes families, friends, communities to promote a culture of vocations within our Church. Invite a young man and woman to consider the path of service. If we don't invite and encourage, a young person may not make a step towards that direction. May the Lord send many vocations to serve His interest, especially as Oblates of St. Joseph.

Recently, Bro. Mat Chipp, OSJ was honored for his 25th anniversary of Religious Vows as an Oblate of St. Joseph at a gathering with other men and women religious of the Diocese of Monterey with Bishop Ramon Bejarano. It was a great day of celebrating the gift of the Religious Life in the various Religious Congregations that serve within the Diocese of Monterey. Let us pray for more holy vocations to the priesthood and religious life!

The Oblates of St. Joseph invite all men ages 18 - 35 who are discerning their vocation to the religious life and priesthood for our Fall Vocation retreat at Mount St. Joseph Seminary in Loomis, CA, September 4-6, 2026.

Today is the Feast Day of St. John Marie Vianney, patron of priests.

Although his talents were limited and his education meager, he was ordained a priest in 1815. After three years at Ecully, he was appointed parish priest of Ars. Here he spent almost forty-two years of his life, devoting himself to prayer, mortification, and pastoral works. His success in directing souls made him known throughout the Christian world.

Let us pray for all of the priests around the world that they may put Christ first in their ministry and lives. St. John Vianney, pray for us!

Last weekend we celebrated our Josephite-Marellian Youth Leaders Summit at the Marello Youth Retreat Center in Loomis, CA. Youth leaders from our parishes in Bakersfield, Madera, Granite Bay, and Loomis attended this gathering. There were momnets of prayer, fellowship, laughs, and formation. May we continue to walk with our youth step by step towards the Heveanly goal!
