Canonical Visit of the Superior General:

Each day of our gathering began with meditation, prayer, and the celebration of the Holy Mass, grounding our time together in the presence of the Lord. We were blessed to receive profound spiritual formation from our Superior General, Fr. Jan Pelczarski, OSJ, and his General Councilor, Fr. Gregory Finn, OSJ.

Throughout the week, we were reminded of the importance of nurturing our interior life with Jesus, following the example of St. Joseph, our holy patron. As Oblates of St. Joseph, we are called to imitate his virtues and faithfully put into practice the teachings and spiritual wisdom of our holy founder, St. Joseph Marello, as we live out our consecration to the Lord.

May Christ always remain at the center of our lives, inspiring us to grow in holiness and inviting others to encounter His love through our witness and service. Let us continue to pray for an abundance of holy vocations to the priesthood and religious life, especially for our beloved Congregation of the Oblates of St. Joseph.

Canonical Visit of the Superior General:

Earlier this week, the Oblates of St. Joseph of the USA Holy Spouses Province gathered at Mount St. Joseph Seminary in Loomis, CA, for a meaningful time of fellowship, prayer, and ongoing formation. We were blessed with delicious meals prepared by our dedicated volunteers in Loomis, along with a wonderful BBQ hosted by our head chef, Fr. Shaji. On the first evening, we gathered in our chapel to begin our spiritual retreat with the first conference, led by our Superior General, Fr. Jan Pelczarski, OSJ.

It was a beautiful way to begin our time together as brothers, united by our shared love and passion for our Josephite-Marellian spirituality and mission. Although Fr. Raymond Tabon, OSJ, and Fr. Joseph Silbiano, OSJ, were unable to join us throughout the week, they remained close to us in prayer and spirit.

May St. Joseph and St. Joseph Marello continue to guide and strengthen us in our vocation, fraternity, and service to the Church!

Canonical Visit of the Superior General:

Our Superior General, Fr. Jan Pelczarski, OSJ, continued his visit with our Oblate community in Madera, California. The Oblates of St. Joseph have faithfully served at St. Joachim Parish since 1931, fostering the faith of generations of parishioners and inspiring many vocations to our religious congregation.

During his visit, Fr. Jan joined the community for the annual Harvest Festival, celebrated a special Youth Mass, and witnessed the first private promises of nine new Oblate Lay Associates.

The Oblate community and parishioners enjoyed a wonderful time of prayer, food, and fellowship, celebrating the faith and spirit of community that unite us.

May the Lord continue to bless St. Joachim Parish, its parishioners, and all those who serve the Church through the Josephite-Marellian spirit, under the loving protection of St. Joseph!

The parish community of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Co-Patroness of the Unborn, in Bakersfield, California, warmly welcomed our Superior General and our Provincial.

The Oblates of St. Joseph have been serving this parish faithfully since 1991, sharing the love of Christ and bringing our Josephite-Marellian spirituality to the people entrusted to our care.

We are grateful for the warm welcome and for the continued collaboration and friendship of this wonderful parish community. May the Lord continue to bless all the parishioners and their families, under the loving protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Joseph.

The Canonical Visit of the Superior General:

Our Superior General, Fr. Jan Pelczarski, OSJ, continues his visit with our Oblate community in Bakersfield, California. Our four Oblate priests serve at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Co-Patroness of the Unborn.

It was a beautiful time of prayer, fellowship, and, of course, good food! We are grateful for the opportunity to strengthen our bonds as a community and to share in the mission entrusted to us.

With great joy, our Provincial, Fr. John Shearer, OSJ, received the private promises of five parishioners who are now officially Oblate Lay Associates. After two years of formation and preparation, they made their private promises to live and share the richness of our Josephite-Marellian spirituality.

We congratulate our new Oblate Lay Associates and pray that St. Joseph Marello will continue to guide them as they live out their commitment to Christ, the Church, and the mission of the Oblates of St. Joseph. St. Joseph, pray for us! 🙏💙

The Canonical Visit of the Superior General Continues:

Our Superior General, Fr. Jan Pelczarski, OSJ, continues with his visit to California. Recently, he visited the Santa Cruz and Davenport communities. It was a great time of fellowship, prayer, and a better understanding of our presence in the area. Fr. Jan blessed special medals of St. Joseph Marello in honor of the 25th anniversary of his canonization, which were passed out to the people.

A special visit was made to the cemetery to pray for the Oblates who have served in California and are now resting with our Lord. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

For those in the Santa Cruz, CA area the Shrine will be celebrating a Holy Hour of Adoration for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. This celebration will be on the First Fridays of the month at 6 PM. The first gathering will be October 2, 2026 and all are welcome to pray to the Lord of the harvest for more vocations.

There will be a Men's Vocation Discernment Group following the hour of prayer for those men who are interested to learn more about the religious life and priesthood as an Oblate of St. Joseph. The meeting will start at 7 PM in the Conference Room by the bookstore.

Let us pray for more vocations to serve the interests of Jesus in imitation of St. Joseph!

Happy Priesthood Sunday!

The last Sunday of September is Priesthood Sunday which seeks to reaffirm the priesthood of Jesus Christ and its central place in the life of the Church. This day also specifically honors priests, without whom the Holy Sacraments could not be conferred, for a single day out of the 365 days of the year during which they tirelessly serve their parishes and communities. Celebrate and thank a priest today! Pray for your priests, pray for vocations, thank your priest, invite your priest to dinner, and/or send a card or letter to a retired priest.

The Canonical Visit of the Superior General of the Oblates of St. Joseph

Very Rev. Jan Pelczarski, OSJ, Superior General, along with one of his General Councilors Fr. Gregory Finn, OSJ has started his canonical visit to the Holy Spouses USA Province. Fr. Jan begun his official visit on Friday September 25th with our Pittston, PA community.

Fr. Jan along with the local Oblate community and our Provincial Fr. John Shearer, OSJ and his Vicar Fr. Shaji Athipozhi, OSJ spent time in prayer and fellowship. The local Oblate lay community shared a great meal and time in prayer with our Superior General. After his visit in Pennsylvania he will travel to California and visit the Oblate communities.

Please pray for the Oblates in the USA during this important time with the Superior General. Thank you and God bless!
