repost: “🔥Prescribed Burn Planned in Soquel Demonstration State Forest🌲

Today, Thursday, June 4, 2026, CAL FIRE’s San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit will conduct an approximately 8-acre prescribed burn near Sulphur Springs Road between 9AM and 5 PM!

⛔️Temporary closure: Sulphur Springs Road will be closed to vehicles, hikers, and cyclists during operations and may remain closed for several days afterward for public and firefighter safety.

This prescribed burn is designed to:
• Reduce wildfire fuel buildup
• Promote native plant regeneration
• Support the long-term health of the Coast Redwood ecosystem

Residents and visitors may see or smell smoke in the
area. Please follow all posted signs and closures.”

Thank you for doing this challenging work to promote healthy forests 🙏

We’re back out at Calabazas Bike Park for a few more days of improvements.🪏

We just finished splitting the beginner jump line so one side now offers double rollers that are beginner-friendly, and the other side offers a tabletop jump for those looking to progress their riding (see pictured).

We’re currently working on some updates to the expert zone of the park and will have some more photos to share later this week.

🟢 We’ll be wrapped up by the end of the week, and the park is expected to be back open to the public this weekend! Stay tuned.

Thanks again to for bringing us in to support this project and to for helping make it happen.

Welp, this rain came in a bit stronger than we thought. 🌧️ Looking like our work day is getting cut short at the Felton Pump Track, but we’ll take a late May rain. This amount should give the trails a nice soak—let’s all wait until tomorrow to ride.

📊 We’ve already got .73” in our gauge here at HQ in town and looks like there’s still some more on the way. is forecasting upwards for .88”.

We’re making good progress on Trail 30 in Fort Ord and have officially reopened the lower segment. It’s been great to hear all of the positive feedback from trail users on the rerouting and tread repairs.

We’re cruising right along to the upper section. Huge thanks to the crew for the continued help out there! It’s coming together really nicely and this trail is going to hold up super well against the elements and amount of traffic it gets.

We’ve been back out at tuning up the dirt jumps and slopestyle lines. 🔥🌀 Thank you for respecting the closure while we’ve been hammering this out! Both areas of the park will reopen by Saturday, 5/30, at the latest.

We’re nearly done with this work and can’t wait for y’all to check out the new features and surfacing we’ve added. Our crew’s test riding right now and locking in the final details – the early report is that the new lines are running smooooooth. 🧈

We’ll share updates on our stories as the park reopens. Thanks to for bringing us on again to make more improvements at Cunningham! We love doing this work for the community.
