Meet Buggs, the 4 month old male rabbit. Buggs came to the Shelter after his previous guardian unfortunately became allergic to him. Buggs has been around rabbit-savvy dogs in his previous home and has done well. He is still getting comfortable with handling but calms down when being held. Buggs was indoors only in his previous home and would like to continue with that safe environment in his next home.

We recommend all adopted domestic rabbits live inside your home and given space to exercise and express their curiosity so they truly become a part of the family.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our friends at GOAT Santa Cruz to kick off the day and help us celebrate our Clear the Shelters adoption event! 🐾💙

Adoptable dogs Dovey and Sq**rt even became fast friends during their workout! 🐶💪

Sq**rt was one of a handful of adoptable dogs from the shelter GOAT Santa Cruz this morning! 🐾💪

The pups enjoyed meet-and-greets with participants in the exercise classes—and one class in particular, Pilates for Pooches, is a fundraiser supporting the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter! 🐶❤️

Meet the T-kittens! They went to a foster home as newborns with their mom. Their foster provided wonderful care for the kittens and helped socialize them to prepare for adoption. Now they are back and ready for the purrfect home. Check out the glow up!

Reminder – all adoption fees for animals at the Shelter are waived on Saturday 8/22. We have about 30 dogs, 70 cats, 7 rabbits, 2 roosters and 2 ducks all looking to go home during this special!

A huge thank-you to Nico, Maddie, Juliette, and Jackson for putting their entrepreneurial skills to work for shelter animals! 🍋🐶🐱

These four animal-loving kids, ages 4–11, held a lemonade stand last weekend and collected $31 in donations for the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. But they didn’t stop there! Nico and Maddie decided to donate another $20 each—all of their lemonade earnings—to help the animals. 🥹💕

Their kindness, generosity, and big hearts are an inspiration! We are so grateful for our youngest animal advocates!

Big shout to moms Paige Czelusta and Dr. Janet Yiu, Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist 🙏❤️
