Meet our Pet of the Week!
Bruno is a typical silly 7-month-old Shepherd mix puppy who, sadly, has spent a significant part of his young life at the shelter. He was brought in over two months ago after a Good Samaritan found him running down a very busy road. While Bruno was briefly adopted, he was recently returned because his first adopter wasn’t quite prepared for the realities of a growing teenager who has big energy and explores the world with his mouth.
He is typical for his age: he loves to steal shoes, will happily shred a paper towel roll left in the car just for fun, and is eager to help you dig holes in the yard if you bring him gardening.
Fortunately, Bruno has been enjoying day trips with shelter volunteers, who report that he is fantastic at fetch and loves to romp and play. While he can get over-excited, he is easily redirected with toys, sticks, rope braids, and chewies. Because he was originally found running in traffic, cars can still be a little scary for him. However, shelter volunteers report that if you gently lift him into the car, he settles down beautifully for the ride!
Bruno absolutely loves going for walks and is excellent on a leash. He already knows “sit” and “down,” and he would thrive with additional positive reinforcement training.
