There really is no place like the Monterey Bay! We’re so lucky to have such an abundance of marine mammals right in our backyard. The waters were full of activity for our MMST trips this summer, from endless humpback jumps and tail slaps to hundreds of common dolphins chasing our boat, our students had more marine mammals to observe than ever before!

If you are in the area, get out on the water and let us know what you see 🐋🫍🐬🦭🌊

Big shout out to Sanctuary Cruises for taking us out, check them out!

🌊the future of conservation

There will also be light refreshments available from LOF and event sponsorship from Jeddadiah Coffee.

The event is free to attend but RVSP will be available soon (watch our story and the comment section here for more details).

🐳 It’s a wrap on MMST 26 Week 1! 🐳

We had an awesome time getting to know these rad students and teaching them all we could about marine mammal research. This group of students was so sweet, friendly and so eager to learn that it really made our jobs easy!

Huge thanks to Bio-Telemetry and Behavioral Ecology Lab for hosting us and to Long Marine Lab Stranding Network, UC Santa Cruz, Long Marine Lab, Año Nuevo State Park, MBARI, Sanctuary Cruises and everyone who gave their time for making this week a huge success.

We can’t wait for week 2 based in Watsonville in July! 🦭
