Riverstyx Foundation

Riverstyx Foundation The Riverstyx Foundation believes in the human potential for healing, growth, and transformation.

RiverStyx Foundation attempts to lessen human suffering caused by misguided social policy and stigma, while advocating enhanced opportunities for healing, growth, and transformation in such areas as drug policy, criminal justice, and end-of-life care. However, often out of fear of change, as well as distrust in human potential, society tries to control, stigmatize, and even punish those who are st

ruggling outside the norm. Drug users, criminals, and death and dying are labels so politically and morally charged, and even pathologized, that society attacks those ‘problems’, rather than recognizing the true needs and sufferings of the individual experiencing them. Unfortunately, not only are these repressive systems excessively expensive, they divert scarce resources away from opportunities for support and healing, while often exacerbating the exact problems they are designed to address. We believe that society should serve citizens by offering the greatest possibilities and freedom for growth and life enhancement, and while helping to mitigate harm, should never punish people for their suffering and personal attempts for relief.

Friends, please consider a donation to the Indigenous Pe**te Conservation Initiative, Riverstyx’s deepest endeavor to date. We are positioned to make significant impact on the conservation of sacred Pe**te and the re-empowerment of indigenous peoples with their land and medicine. We are totally committed with our partners Dr. Bronners; but because of stigma and ignorance, less than .05% of philanthropic funding goes to support Native American people, often to Christian orgs and Universities, and not directly to the people. Unlike other projects, this is truly one that will not happen without the support of unique donors who understand the preciousness and power of these medicines and first cultures of North America. Please join us.

400,000 Native people in the US, Mexico, and Canada rely on Pe**te for wellbeing and cultural survival. IPCI is the most comprehensive effort to save Pe**te, which could could be extinct in 10 years

RiverStyx joins Fantastic Fungi Day on March 26th!

Our Friends, Louie and Paul are hosting a virtual, global screening of Fantastic Fungi, where we can all join in the Magical Mycelium Network from the comfort and safety of our own homes.

"The messages of this film could not be any timelier, from the need to reconnect and understand the intelligence of nature, to partnering with fungi and our natural world to shift our consciousness. How prepared are we to face the pressing issues we have in our world?"

"We are facing a serious challenge, yet like the mycelium network we are adaptable."

Fantastic Fungi Day is THURSDAY! Over 70 countries around the world, THOUSANDS of people will be watching the film with their families at home, and then will join Mycologist PAUL STAMETS, Director LOUIE SCHWARTZBERG, and dear friends from around the globe for FREE Q&As throughout the day. FEEL THE CONNECTION OF THE MYCELIUM NETWORK IN ACTION.

We are thrilled to announce the U.S. debut of our close friend and collegue Robin Siobhan McKenna's powerful and transformative film, GIFT. We are proud funders of this film and are excited to share it's inspiration with the world.

"Inspired by Lewis Hyde’s beloved classic The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World, GIFT is a richly cinematic film, interweaving character‐driven stories. On North America's Pacific Northwest Coast, a young Indigenous artist and carver undertakes the elaborate preparations for a potlatch - to make a name for himself by giving everything away. In Rome, Italy, a factory occupied by migrant families is transformed into a living museum, protected by a barricade of art : a model of resistance, and an invaluable gift. In the pirate utopia of Burning Man, a mutant bumblebee art car distributes honey in a post-apocalyptic desert landscape. Meanwhile, in Auckland, New Zealand, artist Lee Mingwei prepares to launch Sonic Blossom - a “transformative gift” of song.

GIFT is a tribute to something that can’t be measured or counted, bought or sold. Exploring the parallels between artists’ work and a gift economy, it’s a reflection on the creative process, the reasons we “labour in service of our gifts”, and a celebration of the imagination."
