Save the Bay Town Hall & Concert with Julia Butterfly Hill to Stop Offshore Oil Drilling

Sunday, April 26, 2026 03:30 PM PST
846 Front St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, USA

Join us for an Earth Day inspired discussion with Julia Butterfly Hill and local environmental and political leaders. The Trump Administration plans to sell oil and deep sea mining leases off the California coast next year, including the Monterey Bay. At this event, you’ll learn about the organizing being done to resist this and have an opportunity to join the movement, if you haven't already. Among the experts you’ll hear from are Katie Thompson, executive director of Save Our Shores; Brady Bradshaw, Senior Oceans Campaigner for the Center for Biological Diversity; and Sara Nelson, executive director of the Romero Institute. We’ll also be joined by elected officials passionate about preserving our pristine Monterey Bay.

Doors open at 3:30 and talks run from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. At 6 PM we’ll hear live music from Afro Hip-Hop band Dogon Lights and close the evening with an electronic dance set by local legends Heather Christie and Vir McCoy. Music ends by 9 PM.

There will be tabling by environmental organizations and Julia Butterfly Hill will provide a call to action. Following the event, we'll invite you to remain connected to the nonprofits working on this issue.

This gathering is being produced by the Romero Institute, Save Our Shores, Indivisible Santa Cruz, and HeartTribe presents. Our promotion partners are Environteers, Ecologistics, Future Forum, and the Lakota People’s Law Project.

The Pledge That Could Change 2026 — Be Part of It!

We’re launching something bold — and time-sensitive.

Across all 50 states, in 468 Congressional races in 2026, we’re mobilizing a national campaign to secure commitments from federal candidates to support UFO/UAP transparency, accountability, and disclosure.

This only works if we scale now.

Public trust in government is declining across party lines. People are demanding stronger adherence to democratic principles and oversight. This campaign meets that moment with a clear, nonpartisan path forward.

We’re asking candidates — Republicans, Democrats, and Independents — to take a public stand for open governance by signing the UFO/UAP Transparency Pledge.

It puts them on record to strengthen congressional oversight, ensure full disclosure of UAP-related information to Congress, protect whistleblowers, preserve critical records, and support a responsible path to public disclosure. The pledge is grounded in advancing lawful transparency while protecting legitimate national security interests.

NPI’s organizing is already underway in 34 states, powered by our growing network of grassroots volunteers — Citizens for Disclosure. We’re training activists, building media visibility, and communicating with candidates for public office. We’ll have more content to share soon about this campaign, including online tools you can spread to your networks.

Your support at this early stage is what determines whether this becomes a defining national movement. Together we can make transparency and disclosure unavoidable in 2026.

Join us. Please contribute as much as you can to the success of this pivotal campaign!

One of the core missions of the New Paradigm Institute is education and research into the UFO/UAP phenomenon. In the course of our work, we occasionally encounter non-conventional ideas that may cause discomfort and controversy. Yet responsible research requires that we examine the available data, e

Katô: Dreams of Dark Earth Santa Cruz Premiere ✨

The story of the Munduruku is moving beyond the forest and into shared space.

Katô: Dreams of Dark Earth is coming to select cities for in-person screenings, gatherings to witness, learn, and stand in solidarity with the defenders of the Tapajós River basin.

Across the Amazon, the Munduruku people of Sawré Muybu have resisted illegal mining, logging, and state neglect, self-demarcating their land and protecting Katô, the dark ancestral soil that holds their memory, culture, and sovereignty.

Now, we gather together to witness their story on the big screen.

Wisdom of the Ancestors screenings are spaces
For conversation.
For connection.
For recommitment to protecting the living Earth.
