🔥 Wildfire Resilience Funding Opportunity 🔥

The California Conservation Corps (CCC) Foundation has received funding from PG&E to support wildfire resilience projects within PG&E's service area.

Organizations working to reduce wildfire risk may be eligible for assistance with projects such as:

🌿 Community defensible space projects
🌲 Fuel break maintenance
🌱 Reforestation and natural resource restoration
🚧 Roadside fuel reduction projects
🚒 Critical access and evacuation route improvements
🏘️ Community wildfire resilience projects

Projects must be completed by June 30, 2027. Matching funds, CEQA, and NEPA are not required, making this an excellent opportunity for local agencies, nonprofits, Resource Conservation Districts, Fire Safe Councils, and community partners.

Interested organizations should submit a brief project description including the scope of work, location, and sponsoring agency.

For more information, contact Duane Wilson at [email protected] or (909) 228-0938.

Working together, we can strengthen wildfire resilience and help protect our communities, natural resources, and critical infrastructure.

Wildfire experts are sounding the alarm for 2026.

With low snowpack, dry conditions across much of the West, and concerns about firefighting resources, experts are warning that this year’s fire season could be especially challenging.

As wildfire expert Timothy Ingalsbee stated:

“The conditions are just ripe for some really bad outcomes.”

Here in Santa Cruz County, now is the time to prepare:
✅ Create and maintain defensible space
✅ Harden your home against embers
✅ Sign up for emergency alerts
✅ Have an evacuation plan and go-bag ready

Preparation is one of the most effective tools we have to reduce wildfire risk and improve community resilience.

With a puny snowpack in the Western mountains and a widespread drought, the nation is a tinderbox. A reorganization of federal firefighting efforts and the departure of many staff qualified to join the fight are heightening concern. https://lookout.co/why-wildfire-experts-are-so-worried-about-this-years-fire-season/story
