We are a regional group of the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club. Our primary focus is outdoor activities in the Santa Clarita Valley other nearby venues.

The Santa Clarita Group climbed Mission Point this past Wednesday on its monthly conditioning hike with a beautiful full moon. It's also tarantula mating season! Our next conditioning hike is August 26.

On Sunday the Santa Clarita Group hiked from McGill Campground to Mt. Pinos, an area of cultural significance to the Chumash people.

The Santa Clarita Group had clear skies and mild temps on our monthly evening conditioning hike to Mission Point on Wednesday. An added bonus was viewing a Falcon 9 launch from Vandenberg right after we reached the summit! Talk about timing!

Fine weather complemented a fun group and good food on the Santa Clarita Group's annual potluck dinner hike on Mt. Pinos. The wild iris are in full bloom in the lower meadow.

The Santa Clarita Group hiked the Pioneer Trail from Newhall Pass Open Space to Pioneer Oil Refinery Park on a warm June morning today, with a mixture of nature and history. The Pioneer Refinery was the first successful oil refinery in the western U.S., established in 1876. After 150 years, it's time to move on with renewables.

The Santa Clarita Group met with Rep. George Whitesides for coffee followed by a short hike in Placerita Canyon Park today. Thank you, Rep. Whitesides, for taking the time to meet with us and giving us your vision of a greener America.

The Santa Clarita Group hiked the Elsmere Canyon Loop Trail on Saturday, cool and overcast, great weather for hiking on a Memorial Day weekend.

This past Saturday the Santa Clarita Group tabled at the 3rd Annual Youth and Family Festival at Canyon Country Community Center, hosted by Assemblymember Pilar Schiavo. Many young artists visited our table!

The Santa Clarita Group tabled at the Placerita Canyon Nature Center's Annual Open House. Many visitors stopped by to learn about the Sierra Club and join our campaign to establish a Northern Angeles National Monument. And we had a surprise visit from Smokey, who always has good tips on preventing wildfires!
