The Santa Clarita Group hiked the Pioneer Trail from Newhall Pass Open Space to Pioneer Oil Refinery Park on a warm June morning today, with a mixture of nature and history. The Pioneer Refinery was the first successful oil refinery in the western U.S., established in 1876. After 150 years, it's time to move on with renewables.

The Santa Clarita Group hiked the Elsmere Canyon Loop Trail on Saturday, cool and overcast, great weather for hiking on a Memorial Day weekend.

This past Saturday the Santa Clarita Group tabled at the 3rd Annual Youth and Family Festival at Canyon Country Community Center, hosted by Assemblymember Pilar Schiavo. Many young artists visited our table!

The Santa Clarita Group tabled at the Placerita Canyon Nature Center's Annual Open House. Many visitors stopped by to learn about the Sierra Club and join our campaign to establish a Northern Angeles National Monument. And we had a surprise visit from Smokey, who always has good tips on preventing wildfires!

The Santa Clarita Group celebrated Earth Week with riparian habitat restoration, sponsored by TreePeople, along the Santa Clara River last Saturday, followed by a hike through Vasquez Rocks Natural Area, and then today we tabled at TreePeople’s Pollinator Palooza at Castaic Lake. Wow! What a week!
