📣ADVOCACY ALERT‼️
AB2414, California Disability Services Association sponsored legislation, is on the Governor's desk and we need your help to get it over the finish line! This defines the role of the direct support professional (DSP) and standardizes references to these workers in statute. DSPs are the backbone of the work that we do and to create unified language to describe the work they do will bring attention and acknowledgement to them. This bill does not add taxes but will help strengthen our industry. Reach out to the Governor's office via his website at https://www.gov.ca.gov/contact/ and let him know you support his signing of AB2414.
Thank you for your support and advocacy!

You can contact the Governor a few different ways. The best way is through his online form.

‼️Alert‼️ DOJ released an opinion last week that suggests individuals with disabilities do not have the right to services provided in integrated settings rather than in institutions. This could significantly impact funding and services to individuals across the nation. This opinion is highly concerning and while only opinion could be paving the way for legal push back to HCBS services. It is important to create relationships with our local legislators, particularly individuals served, to convey to them the importance of being able to receive services in the community and not in a facility.
