A Light of Hope - Santa Clarita, CA Through love, support and acceptance, parents and youth can find an end to isolation and fear and discover a life of hope and freedom.

Substance Abuse Family Support utilizing Alternative Peer Groups, Support Groups, Family and Individual Counseling, Weekly Peer Group activities and events for Drugs, Alcohol, cutting and other self-destructive actions. A Light of Hope (ALOH) is a support program for youth and young adults 14-26 years of age and their families struggling with substance abuse issues and any self destructive actions and behaviors. We offer groups and programs to assist in personal and family recovery utilizing support groups combined with an Alternative Peer Group (APG) support system. In support meetings parents can learn new ways of reacting to their substance abusing and/or self-destructive teenagers or young adults. Many parents transform their own lives as well in this process. The young people's support meetings focus on pertinent topics that challenge old ineffective ways of thinking and coping. We emphasize the exploration and development of new tools and new coping skills based upon the 12-Step model of recovery. It is a huge relief not to feel alone or isolated. Listening and feeling understood is a bridge to becoming open and empowered to make better choices for themselves. In working together, the group can offer solutions to common problems and build a greater understanding and awareness of recovery from the effects of substance abuse and/or other self-destructive actions and behaviors. We emphasize the development and maintenance of an Alternative Peer Group (APG) support system providing a safe, sober yet fun and welcoming experience for young people and their families as an alternative to the dysfunctional and destructive environment they may be involved in.
