We lost an icon and advocate today 💔 Dolly embraced her LGBTQIA+ following, supported transgender people, and encouraged us all to live authentically. Her message was simple: treat people with respect and let them be themselves. For generations of q***r fans, Dolly was more than a country star. She was family.

Happy birthday to the legendary artist, activist, and community organizer Marsha P Johnson, who famously said that the P. in her name stood for “pay it no mind.” She often used her middle name, and life motto, as a response to questions about her gender, as a refusal to be categorized into rigid gender constructs.

She was part of the Stonewall uprising, a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front, and co-founded Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) with Sylvia Rivera, creating community and support for unhoused q***r and gender-nonconforming young people.

Today we lift up her memory and celebrate her legacy by ignoring the haters and living vibrantly. 😘

We will have lively a round of LGBTQIA+ themed trivia that is sure to be entertaining and educational, followed by support groups for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, parents, family, and allies.

Happy Transgender Pride Flag Day! 🏳️‍⚧️

On August 19, 1999, trans activist and Navy veteran Monica Helms created the Transgender Pride Flag. Fifteen years later, on August 19, 2014 the original flag was donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

Designed with light blue, pink, and white stripes, the flag was crafted so that no matter which way you fly it, it is always correct, symbolizing finding correctness and validity in our lives.

Today, we honor the history, strength, and vibrant visibility of the trans community. 💙🩷🤍🩷💙
