The Zonta Service & Volunteerism Committee “adopted” a Fostering Youth Independence high school graduate and treated her to a graduation gift 💙 The student was presented with a beautiful lavender mini backpack filled with a Dodger shirt and gift cards to both Kohls and Sephora for a fun shopping spree! Zontians Oriana John and Jackie Howarth delivered the graduation gifts to the DCFS office in Valencia. They were thanked by Amiejoy Nogle (gift coordinator), Carolyn Olsen & Gina Stephens (FYI board members), and the social workers who work directly with the foster students. Zonta is honored to work with Fostering Youth Independence to support young foster youths in our community 🎓

On Sunday May 31st, the Zonta Club of SCV volunteered at the Circle of Hope wellness event: A Celebration of You! 💕The event was a spa day hosted at Monarch Beauty Academy where female patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment could receive a little pampering. The Zonta Service & Volunteerism Committee filled and donated 45 comfort bags which included hand creams, fuzzy socks, eye masks, decks of cards, travel size tissues, hand made sachets, and more to make going through treatments a little more comfortable. Zontians, Dinh Montane, Gisele Noll, Barbara Cochran, and Jackie Howarth were so grateful and honored to volunteer with the Circle of Hope at this event🌸

Congratulations to the Jo Ann Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship recipients Raqual Holmes, Joanna Samayoa, Paula Fowler, Joselle Marcelo, Rebekah Vincent, Andriele dos Santos, Jalin Fortune, Kenya Pittman, Shirley Carrillo, Arianna Samano, and Lilianna Escamilla! Our Jo Ann Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship was established to invest in women to help them achieve their educational goals with an academic interest in accounting. This scholarship was established in Jo Ann’s name, to honor her legacy in the SCV and as a Zonta leader.

The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley awarded over $25,000 in scholarships, awards, and grants at the annual Awards Celebration held on May 14, 2026. All scholarships, awards, and grants are funded through the Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation ✨

These scholarships and awards recognize individual recipients, while grants are awarded to local organizations to fund projects that exemplify and further Zonta’s vision of a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential; a world where women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men; and, a world where no woman lives in fear of violence.

Giving these awards is a tribute to the over 30-year legacy of Zonta giving these scholarships in memory of Virginia Wrage.
