Santa Clarita Valley Search & Rescue Team The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Team is a volunteer group formed to assist the Sheriff of Los Angeles County in search and rescue operations.

The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Team is a volunteer group formed to assist the Sheriff of Los Angeles County in search and rescue operations or any other governmental agency upon request. They also promote wilderness recreation safety for the people of our community. The SCV Search & Rescue Team works under the direction of the SCV Sheriff's Station. The team is made up of reserve deputies who get paid a $1 a year, and civilian volunteers who work for free because they love the job. All of the team members are Emergency Medical Technicians. The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team not only helps your local Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station, but also responds to mutual aid calls, where disasters or other situations outside our valley require their skills. The Search and Rescue team can and will respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week to calls involving vehicles over the side, earthquakes, lost hikers, power outages, and missing people of all ages, along with rescuing people or recovering evidence in locations involving challenging terrain. Last year, the Search and Rescue team dedicated more than 4,000 hours of service to the Santa Clarita Valley.

🚨 Teamwork in Action: Santa Clarita Safety Update

In a powerful display of coordination, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies and the Santa Clarita Search and Rescue team recently mobilized for a full-scale operation near the Los Pinetos trail.

The response was triggered after the station received a report from an informant who heard a man’s voice calling for help over the side of the terrain. Taking every precaution to ensure public safety, units immediately launched a comprehensive search effort. Our responders utilized advanced technology, including drones, alongside aerial support from LA County Fire Helicopter 19 to scour the area.

After several hours of intensive searching and diligent detective work in the background, it was determined that the area was clear and no one was in distress.

While this specific incident turned out to be a false alarm, we want to thank our deputies and the dedicated volunteers of Search and Rescue for their rapid, professional response. Your readiness to drop everything to save a life is what makes this community safe.

Always remember: if you see something, say something. We would always rather perform a search and find nothing than miss a call for help. 🚁🏔️👮‍♂️

🏃‍♂️🔦 RUNNING TO REMEMBER 🔦🏃‍♀️

This past Saturday night, members of our community stepped up to honor the fallen in a powerful way.

We want to send a massive shoutout to the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team and our dedicated SCV Sheriff’s Station Deputies who laced up their running shoes for the 2026 Memorial Torch Relay Run!

Representing SCV SAR through the night were three of our incredible rescue members:

Gauthier Chau-pech

Sean O'Connor

Juan Flores

Side-by-side with our local deputies, they carried the torch through the darkness, keeping the memory of our fallen heroes burning bright. Whether they are climbing rugged mountains to save a lost hiker or running miles at midnight to honor a legacy, these men and women embody true service and sacrifice.

Thank you to everyone who ran, supported, and cheered them on. We are incredibly proud of our SCV emergency response family! 💙🏃‍♂️🔥

🧗‍♂️ HIGH-FLYING REPELLING DAY! 🧗‍♀️

The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team had an absolute blast hosting the Los Angeles County Sheriff's VIDA (Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives) kids for an action-packed repelling day at Frenchman Flat! ⛰️✨

From learning knots to conquering fears and dropping down those canyon walls, these incredible youth showed major grit, teamwork, and determination. Our rescue team members loved teaching them the ropes (literally!) and sharing a day focused on building confidence, trust, and resilience.

Big shoutout to the amazing VIDA program for all they do to empower youth in our community, and to these kids for stepping out of their comfort zones and crushing it today! 💪🔥

📸 Highlights of the Day:

The Prep: Learning the gear, safety checks, and overcoming those first-step jitters.

The Descent: Walking backward off a bridge? No problem for these kids!

The Teamwork: Endless cheering, high-fives, and community bonding at Frenchman Flat.
