SPARTA The SPARTA Project is a 5 day retreat for warriors, veterans and first responders. We heal the spiritual and moral wounds of war, trauma, and violence.

The SPARTA Project is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are one of the nation's leading programs for treating warriors with spiritual and moral wounds, PTS(D) and suicidal ideology. The Mission:
To transform the stress and trauma caused by war and violence into resiliency, empowerment, personal growth, individual greatness in order to create an EPIDEMIC OF HOPE©! Spiritual and Moral Wounds:
It's

SPARTA's belief that traditional methods of healing are not enough. Warriors need something different than drugs to heal the spiritual and moral wounds caused by trauma and war. To this end, SPARTA delivers state-of-the-art programs that transform PTS(D), and trauma into acceptance, growth, and resiliency. All trauma, be it from war or other life-threatening experiences, creates a spiritual wound. Identifying and properly treating the spiritual wound created by trauma is essential to the healing process. Spiritual and moral wounds can lead to conditions of hopelessness, desperation, and isolation. Our goal is to transform these very wounds into personal growth and empowerment in order to create an EPIDEMIC OF HOPE©! How SPARTA heals PTS(D):
Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) is a result of exposure to traumatic events such as war, violence, injury, and death. Exposure to these events can train the autonomic nervous system (body, brain, and mind) to be in a constant state of stress i.e. fight or flight. Most people who experience symptoms of PTS(D) do not know that their own brains have been changed by stress (Brain Change AKA Amygdala hijack). SPARTA educates participants on how the body, brain, and mind are trained into a constant state of stress and the common behaviors associated with a condition. We then provide specific tools and techniques to retrain the body, brain, and mind into rest, relaxation, and peacefulness. How SPARTA heals Suicidal Ideology:
Suicide (or a suicidal ideology) is a condition of hopelessness. Hopelessness cannot be medicated away with pills. Hopelessness is cured by the right relationships in one's life combined with the proper perspective and correct information. SPARTA’s clinical team members are the right relationships; they are professional who understand the downward spiral that leads to hopelessness and they are highly skilled at empowering participants with the right relationships, perspective, and information to find a new sense of purpose in their lives. Together we are the EPIDEMIC OF HOPE! If you or someone you love is suffering from PTS(D), hopelessness, and or suicidal ideology PLEASE CONTACT US TODAY.

🇺🇸 250 Years of Freedom. Courage. Sacrifice.

Today, as America celebrates 250 years of independence, we honor the men and women who have stood watch over our nation’s freedom, from the first patriots of 1776 to the veterans, first responders, and military members who continue to answer the call today.

At The SPARTA Project, we believe that freedom is not just something we celebrate, it’s something that has been earned through sacrifice, protected through service, and strengthened through resilience.

To every veteran, active-duty service member, law enforcement officer, firefighter, EMT, and first responder: thank you. Your courage inspires us, and it is our privilege to serve those who have spent their lives serving others.

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, may we remember that our nation’s greatest strength has always been the people willing to stand for something greater than themselves.

From all of us at The SPARTA Project, we wish you and your families a safe, meaningful, and Happy Independence Day.

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America!

At The SPARTA Project, we begin the day with walking meditation because it helps ground our veterans and first responders before the day begins. Starting the morning with intentional movement, breath, reflection, and quiet connection helps calm the nervous system, clear the mind, and create space to be present.

There is something powerful about walking side by side in silence before the noise of the world takes over.

A special thank you to Mark Bowles for living, breathing, and teaching this practice to our cohorts. Your presence and guidance continue to leave a lasting impact on so many. Mark Bowles Tawny Biggs Jsin Miller Geoffrey Bowton

We recently closed out Cohort 024.

Over the course of 5 1/2 days, this group of veterans and first responders showed up for themselves and for each other in ways that took real courage. They stepped outside their comfort zones, built trust, shared stories, faced difficult emotions, and formed bonds that will continue long after the week ended.

Programs like this are only possible because of the people who quietly stand behind them, our staff, volunteers, instructors, donors, and supporters who believe these men and women deserve a place to reset, reconnect, and heal.

To Cohort 024: thank you for allowing us to walk beside you during that week. We were honored to share the experience with you and proud of the strength and vulnerability you showed throughout the process.

The week may have ended, but the connections and impact continue long after everyone goes home.

Fly Fishing & Reflection

Cohort 024 focused on slowing down, being present, and finding peace in the moment.

A special thank you to Josh Holubz for spending the day teaching our veterans and first responders the art of fly fishing. What may look simple from the outside carries a deeply meditative effect, the rhythm of the cast, the focus on the water, the quiet patience, and the ability to step away from the noise for a while.

We also want to thank Thorne Bros, Fly Angler, and Ben Olsen for their endless support of the men and women we serve. Your generosity and commitment help create experiences that truly matter.

These moments may seem small, but they become part of something much bigger, rebuilding connection, confidence, and community.

Thorne Bros.

Cohort 024 brought another powerful day of connection, reflection, and growth. A huge thank you to Suncoast Therapeutic Riding Center and their incredible equine partners for welcoming our veterans and first responders.

A special thank you to Dan Bue for a beautiful sound bath to open us up to be able to communicate with the horses peacefully.

There’s something special about the way horses mirror emotion, build trust, and create space for people to slow down and reconnect without judgment. The experiences shared out there in the arena can be hard to put into words, but they leave a lasting impact.

We are grateful for the patience, care, and heart your team poured into our cohort. Thank you for standing beside those who have served others for so long.
