Hello everyone! The City of Santa Clara is the only city in California that elects its police chief and we're trying to change that and eliminate corruption. Santa Clara's PD has more officers accused/convicted of crimes in the Bay Area and the highest percentage of officers shooting unarmed mentally challenged persons. We are endorsed by the NAACP, Asian Law Alliance, Mercury News Editors, and many other community members. With less than two weeks before voting on March 5, we need some help. There's a new alliance of residents in Santa Clara County bringing change to law enforcement, please support their page! The City of Santa Clara is the ONLY city in California that still elects its police chief, this has to change. Recently, the City Council stood up a Charter Review Committee to examine if the City should put on the ballot an amendment to change their charter allowing for professional city managers and attorneys to scrutinize and appoint a police chief. The Charter Review Committee returned a finding that the City should put an amendment up for vote this March 2024! Santa Clara's PD has the highest percentage of officers shooting unarmed persons with mental challenges and those same officers have the lowest level of Crisis Intervention Training. Santa Clara Police Department also has the highest percentage of officers convicted of crimes and their current police chief, Patrick Nikolai, is the least educated police leader in the entire county. Make an immediate impact on improved policing, repost this! The City of Santa Clara is the only city in California to still elect its police chief. Recently, internal police records of racism have been unconvered. If you live in the City of Santa Clara or have friends who do, repost this let them know we're trying to change the City's Charter to appoint a police chief.

The Police Scorecard evaluates police departments based on quantitative data on arrests, use of force, accountability and other policing issues to make progress towards more just and equitable policing outcomes.
