SPEAKER BIO:
Chen-Hao Hsu acquired his first orchids at the age of ten while living in Taiwan. His passion for orchids and other plant groups continued after he returned to the US shortly thereafter. Prior to studying ecology and statistics in graduate school at UC Davis, he interned one summer at Longwood Gardens outside of Philadelphia and worked briefly with the orchid collection there. Currently, his travels for work and pleasure have led him to many a destination both domestic and abroad. His travels have included Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, central Africa and Indonesia, where he observed a variety of orchids and other plants growing in vastly different habitats. His talk will be a photographic travel log through some of these regions.

SPEAKER: Dave Robison from Orchid Design TOPIC: Repotting & Dividing Cymbidiums OPPORTUNITY PLANT TABLE:Orchid Design will provide the plant table.

SPEAKER BIO: As a retired graphic arts instructor, Dave Robison claimshe’s not really an “orchid person” and that his main hobbyis letterpress printing, but he actually spends most of his time helping his wife take care of cymbidiums and a few thousand other orchids at their Orchid Design business. After more than two decades of dividing and repotting hundreds and hundreds of cyms, Dave thinks he may have guredout how to do it, and is happy to share tips, techniques, and ideas on dividing, potting media, repotting, and how to get cymbidium “back bulbs” to grow new plants.
