Week 5 is here, and we’re carrying the momentum forward after another exciting week of Bay Area matchups! We’re proud to recognize the student-athletes and coaches making an impact on the field and in their communities.
Congratulations to this week’s honorees:
Lily Brakel of Heritage High School, our presented by Visa Player of the Week. The sophomore threw for 405 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 111 rushing yards in wins over Antioch and Dublin. She set school records with seven passing touchdowns against Antioch and 250 passing yards against Dublin, where she also rushed for a career-high 82 yards.
Duece Jones-Drew of De La Salle High School, our presented by U.S. Bank Player of the Week. The senior rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries, powering the Spartans to a hard-fought 35–32 victory over Centennial.
We’re also proud to recognize this week’s Coaches of the Week:
Ryan Wittmer of Amador Valley High School, our presented by Visa Coach of the Week. Coach Wittmer guided the Dons to a narrow 13–12 victory over San Ramon Valley, keeping them undefeated at 6–0 in East Bay League play. Amador Valley also delivered a dominant win over Lowell, improving its overall record to 13–2.
Tim Johnson of El Cerrito High School, our presented by U.S. Bank Charlie Wedemeyer Memorial Coach of the Week. Coach Johnson led the Gauchos to a hard-fought 20–16 victory over the California Grizzlies, with key defensive plays helping secure the win.
