From strategic planning to effective representation, the summit is all about elevating how we serve our crews and communities.

Recently, Local 1171 hosted a retirement breakfast to honor our recently retired members. Surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues, we reflected on years of dedication, and service to the citizens of Santa Clara.

Each retiree leaves behind a legacy of courage, compassion, and commitment that has helped shape the fire department.

Congratulations on a well-deserved retirement! Local 1711 wishes you a happy retirement. You’ve earned it!

One of the longest standing programs that your Santa Clara Firefighters provide is the Senior Assist Program. Ran by Captain Jason Beals and Firefighter Jim Duperly, the program identified a citizen that needed help cleaning up their property but was unable to do so themselves.

Yesterday, your firefighters donated some time and elbow grease to cleaning up this citizens property.

We take pride in serving the citizens of Santa Clara in any way that we can.

REMEMBERING DAVE EUERLE: We remember Santa Clara City Firefighters Local 1171 Driver/Engineer Dave Euerle who died in the line of duty.

Dave served the City of Santa Clara for 10 years and was a fire science instructor at Mission College. He fought a long and courageous battle with Stage 4 melanoma, passing on July 22, 2006.

Dave was the devoted husband of Tricia, and a loving father to Sophie, Sammy, Gracie, and Isabella, all of whom received the California Fire Foundation’s Daniel A. Terry Scholarship for fallen firefighters’ children.

Thank you to Dave and his family for their sacrifices in service to our community.
