🚒🏈 This is how we do it!

We crushed our goal with over $8,000 raised!

What an incredible turnout at our Fill the Boot fundraiser at the 49ers tailgate!
Thanks to the generosity of Niner Faithful and our amazing community, Santa Clara City Firefighters Local 1171 raised OVER $8,000 in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), blowing past our fundraising goal.

Every dollar donated helps support families living with neuromuscular diseases through life-changing research, specialized care, and programs like MDA Summer Camp.

To everyone who stopped by, dropped a donation in the boot, shared our event, or helped make this possible — THANK YOU! Your generosity is a reminder of what we can accomplish when our community comes together.

Santa Clara City Firefighters Local 1171 is proud to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association through our annual Fill the Boot fundraiser!

Come find us at the 49ers tailgate from 9:30 AM until kickoff and help us fill our boots for an incredible cause. Every donation helps support research, specialized care, and programs for families living with neuromuscular disease.

Santa Clara Firefighters IAFF Local 1171 mourns with our Brothers and Sisters of Hayward Fire following the loss of Brother Travis Foster. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, loved ones, and Hayward Firefighters IAFF Local 1909.

When firefighters stand together, our voices are stronger.

Santa Clara Firefighters joined our union brothers and sisters from across California at the State Capitol in support of AB 1383 — the Retirement Security for Firefighters Act.

AB 1383 recognizes the realities of a career in public safety by lowering the normal retirement age from 57 to 55 and strengthening the role of collective bargaining in determining retirement benefits.

Firefighters spend their careers facing demanding working conditions and repeated exposure to dangerous and carcinogenic environments. AB 1383 is about ensuring the retirement system better reflects those realities while giving labor and local employers a voice at the bargaining table.

We were proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with firefighters and public safety professionals from across California and make our collective voice heard.

Local 1171 President Matt Sellers and Vice President Robert Flournoy spent the week in Arlington, Texas, representing our members at the IAFF’s 58th Convention.

It was a great week of connecting with brothers and sisters from across the IAFF, discussing the issues facing the fire service, and helping shape the future of our union.

Proud to represent Local 1171 and bring our members’ voices to the table.
