“To preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known”

Professor Richard Falk at the 21st Frank K. Kelly Lecture spoke on why peace and justice is a daunting topic today, one we must try to be brave enough to face. The message is ever relevant in the face of increasing nuclear risks and uncertainty.

Join us in facing this uncertainty by waging peace.

"The Partial Test Ban Treaty came months after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Reagan and Gorbachev acted on the heels of Able Archer. Real progress happens during real crisis — and this is that moment."

NAPF President Ivana Nikolić Hughes and Prof. Peter Kuznick of American University join Pascal Lottaz of Neutrality Studies to break down the NPT review conference, first strike doctrine, Trump's unchecked launch authority, and whether the nuclear ban treaty can deliver real change.

At the 2026 , States Parties to the treaty FAILED to reach consensus and adopt an outcome document for a third consecutive review cycle. The last time a NPT outcome document was adopted successfully was 2010.

This development marks a deeply disturbing lack of agreement on even the most basic nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation issues.

By the end of the day, the month long NPT Review Conference will come to a close. Throughout the month, NAPF has joined civil society and a majority of states pushing for an outcome that reflects the urgency of disarmament.

Earlier in the month we spoke with some of our delegates about their highlights of the conference and of course the answer was engaging with our civil society partners! This conference was an opportunity to connect with and learn from civil society around the world who are dedicated to nuclear justice and disarmament. Throughout the conference we met, organized, and planned with civil society around the world who share our mission for a world free from nuclear weapons. No matter the outcome today, our shared work continues.🕊

NAPF has been at the NPT Review Conference all month, engaging with States and civil society to advocate for stronger action on disarmament commitments and progress for the Treaty. Ibrahim Waraich and Anduin DeVos joined us at the UN earlier this month and took a moment to share their key takeaways. 💡

The conference comes to a close tomorrow and disarmament commitments, nuclear sharing arrangements, proliferation risks, and active conflict involving nuclear weapon states have been highly debated topics as we continue to push for an outcome that reflects the deep risk to humanity that nuclear weapons pose.
