Erase E-Waste

Erase E-Waste Erase E-Waste is a student run organization based at Santa Barbara High School which is committed to create zero e-waste in our community.

Erase E-Waste is an organization branching from SBHS's fourth period AP Environmental Science class, in a class wide project run completely by students (with the guiding hand of Jose Caballero, long time APES instructor) devoted to disposing of e-waste safely, avoiding negative environmental effects of e-waste in landfills. E-waste, or electronic waste is a term for any electronic device that has

become broken, unwanted, or obsolete, that when disposed of improperly, can lead to negative effects on the environment. Acceptable E-Waste includes: laptops, computers, TVs, batteries, printers, Hard drives, phones, mice, monitors, cables, radios, lamps, cameras, sewing machines, keyboards, video game consoles, speakers, scanners, projectors and basically anything that uses electricity! How will your E-Waste be used? Reused/repurposed – damaged items may be refurbished or fixed and given to those in need of electronics. Properly disposed of – We will sort all waste brought to us that can disposed of and use a facility vetted by our group for methods of proper disposal and make sure that your e-waste is taken care of in a healthy way for you and the environment. Used for education purposes – Part of our goal as a group is to raise awareness of issues, so we will be educating adults and kids in Santa Barbara to help teach everybody about e-waste.
