Old Spanish Days Fiesta is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation dedicated to honoring and preserving Santa Barbara’s history, spirit, culture, heritage and traditions. Old Spanish Days Fiesta is unique among festivals, both local and national, in that it is run primarily by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by only two full-time staff members. The Board of Directors annually selects a Pre

sidente who not only presides over the Board, but also serves as an ambassador of goodwill to residents and visitors alike. The President has the honor of choosing a theme for his/her year and the design of the annual poster and pin. Old Spanish Days Fiesta is a Santa Barbara tradition that has continued for over 90 years for a number of important reasons. It fosters a unique spirit among locals who participate; it is an important coming together which encourages community cooperation, collaboration, and growth. The festival has grown due to the overwhelming interest of so many different organizations to develop and maintain it as an extension and expression of their place in the community. The annual event provides an education to residents and visitors about the history, customs, and traditions of the American Indian, Spanish, Mexican, and early American settlers that comprise the rich cultural heritage of Santa Barbara. Old Spanish Days Fiesta is not only a unique forum for the cultural expression of our diversity, but it also provides a vehicle for the non-profit and community service groups to raise funds for local charities and social service organizations. The event annually draws thousands of visitors from around the world who contribute to the local economy. Old Spanish Days Fiesta has grown in stature and reputation to become one of the best regional festivals in the United States. Fiesta performers come from around the nation and Mexico to participate. Celebrities of international renown who have participated or performed in Fiesta include Leo Carrillo, Will Rogers, Shirley Temple, Charles Lindberg, William Randolph Hearst, Don Wilson, Paul Whitman, and Delores Del Rio.

2026 Los Niños de las Flores Registration is Now Open!

Old Spanish Days invites children ages 5 to 18 to join Los Niños de las Flores.

This is a wonderful opportunity for children to make new friends while representing the Santa Barbara community as young ambassadors of Fiesta. Throughout the celebration, Los Niños bring smiles and proudly shout, “¡Viva la Fiesta!”

Participants will take part in both the Historic Parade and Children’s Parade, as well as the Opening Night Ceremony at the Old Mission. They also make special appearances at senior living homes, the police station, fire departments, the airport, and many other community events.

Big plans are underway for Old Spanish Days Fiesta 2026!

Mercado De La Guerra, traditionally the heart of Fiesta activities, is expanding onto State Street for the first time ever. Vendors, entertainment, and food booths will continue in the historic De La Guerra Plaza, including the debut of the first-ever Old Spanish Days Beer Garden.

In addition, East De La Guerra Street alongside the plaza, as well as the 700 and 800 blocks of State Street, will feature expanded vendor areas, food trucks, and additional Fiesta activities, creating an exciting new experience for Fiesta 2026.

Everyone is invited to come downtown during Fiesta and enjoy the expanded Mercado De La Guerra, live entertainment, music, dancing, food, shopping, and the vibrant spirit of Old Spanish Days. Applications are now being accepted for vendor spaces in the soon-to-be sold-out 700 and 800 blocks of State Street as Fiesta 2026 and Mercado de la Guerra expand into downtown Santa Barbara like never before. Sign-up at sbfiesta.org

All of these announcements were made this morning during a special media conference featuring El Presidente 2026 Colin Hayward and 2026 Spirit of Fiesta Jenna Ramirez.

Old Spanish Days would like to thank all of the participants who brought their favorite friendly pooches to this historic first event, as well as the many spectators who lined State Street to watch the colorful parade.

A special thank you to 2026 El Presidente Colin Hayward for envisioning and introducing the idea of a Fiesta Dog Parade. It was truly a wonderful success, and everyone is already looking forward to Old Spanish Days Fiesta 2026, taking place August 5–9. ¡Viva la Fiesta! !Viva los perritos!
