On Thursday, February 26th, we will be cohosting a FREE screening of David Attenborough’s film, Ocean! 🌊 We will have a Q&A panel with local fishermen and scientists after the movie ends, including our CLTFA Vice President, Ray Kennedy, who is featured in the film. We’re grateful to .info and for the help in pulling this event together 💙 We can’t wait to see you all there!

We recently got to participate in the ’s annual (TRAP) event in Gloucester, VA! It was a wonderful event where we got to meet other TRAP subawardees from around the world and learn about all the great work that’s being done in their respective coastal communities! We are continuously grateful to have been selected for this grant, and we thank the Virginia Institute of Marine Science for hosting us! We look forward to keeping in touch with the kind, intelligent, hard-working friends we got to make! 🦞🫶😊🙏

It’s been a great past couple of days spent at our first ever Marine Debris Summit/Workshop in Channel Islands Harbor! This event was primarily organized by the Global Ghost Gear Initiative and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation 👏 and brought together approximately 30 different industry experts on the important topic of keeping our beaches and ocean clean. We’re thankful to have been a part of it and look forward to more of these collaborative events in the future! 😁

Another successful cleanup!! Big thanks to , , and their crew for executing their second cleanup of our cycle yesterday! 👏 Together they were able to get approximately 460 lbs / ~25 traps + miscellaneous items off the beach at Santa Cruz Island! Great work guys. Cheers to more cleanups happening up and down the coast/at the islands soon! 😍

Awesome cleanup today at Yellowbanks by Brian Aresco and Jeff Buchanan! This is one of our first coordinated cleanup efforts funded by the for our California Coastal Cleanup Initiative! Brian and Jeff were able to get approximately 25 traps and other miscellaneous fishing gear (buoys, frames, line, etc.) off the beach today on the backside of Santa Cruz Island and disposed of the unsalvageable traps at the dump accordingly 👍

We are so grateful to have been selected as a subawardee as part of this important grant and look forward to all the subsequent efforts we have planned for the remainder of the year. Stay tuned for more cleanup content! 😍
