Four Ingenieros Foundation

We believe in providing educational assistance to underrepresented students who wish to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Four Ingenieros(Engineers) Foundation started with a group of four STEM classmates who took leadership positions in our SHPE Ingenium student chapter at Santa Barbara City College. During our time with SHPE they were able to work well together with similar visions for their SHPE Ingenium chapter. After transferring to a four year university they took those skills attained from attending conference

s and workshops onto the next level of their education. Their friendship and collaborative efforts lived on after their time at SBCC and they had different backgrounds and experiences trying to navigate through the educational pipeline. The four ingenieros saw the need for more involvement and the need to expose STEM students at a much earlier time in their educational careers. We feel that being exposed to and participating in different opportunities allows students to gain the skills and confidence to finish a career in STEM. We are very excited to start our professional journey and STEM advocacy through our foundation and we hope to serve as a support group for our future engineers and scientists.

Amid the Coronavirus situation, Four Ingenieros Foundation and Appfolio have decided to postpone the 2020 Four Ingenieros Foundation Engineering Competition. The student application and volunteer sign up sheets have been closed. The health of our volunteers, students and employees are important to us.

Our annual engineering competition is designed to motivate and instill leadership in our students. We do that by challenging them with unique projects while teaching them key STEM related concepts. Armando Ibarra is yet another example of someone who has learned from our competitions and has applied his knowledge to succeed in his field of study.

As we are close to the end of 2019, Four ingenieros Foundation invites you take a look at some of the most exciting moments in previous editions of the Four Ingenieros Engineering Competition. This event hosts underrepresented students from community colleges in the Santa Barbara county to compete, learn and network in a safe and supportive environment. Without the contribution from our donors and allies, the organization would not be able to host this event every year. Supporters and friends, Four Ingenieros Foundation is honored to participate in the 3rd annual SB Gives fundraiser campaign. For the past three years Four Ingenieros Foundation has focused on the annual engineering competition. For those who are new to our foundation we hold an engineering competition every spring where students get exposed to team work, hands on and programming experience. Each year we focus on different core skills needed to be successful in internships and in industry. Students put their learned skills to the test as well as take away valuable lessons.

This year our goal remains the same, to bring our community college students to the Four Ingenieros Foundation Engineering Competition. In addition, this year we want to motivate you to contribute to our campaign with an incentive. For every donor who donates a minimum of $75 through our SB Gives Campaign website will automatically be eligible to receive an exclusive and limited quantity Four Ingenieros Foundation T-shirt. We hope you can continue supporting the students that we serve and the students we will be serving in the next engineering competition.

"The competition was an invaluable experience for me, from check-in until the end I felt very welcomed and the excitement from the four ingenieros as well as all volunteers made it fun. I was given the opportunity to work with other students and mentors. In addition, I am very grateful for the hands-on experience I got with designing and creating a device during this and past competitions. I am a returning student to the community college and I do not qualify for a lot of internships and mentorship opportunities because of enrollment status and although this can feel discouraging at times I am thankful to Four Ingenieros Foundation. With a competition like this I am able to expose my creativity, hard work, and dedication. Lastly, I left the competition more determined than ever to continue pursuing a bachelor's and master's in engineering!"
