What makes a playground truly inclusive? đŚ
Itâs more than simply being able to get in. Inclusive play means designing for:
⢠Inclusivity â everyone is considered from the beginning
⢠Shared play â children, friends, parents, grandparents and caregivers can play together
⢠Sensory, physical + social play â different bodies, senses, interests and needs are supported
⢠Multiple ways to play â equipment can be enjoyed in different ways, not just one prescribed way
⢠Removing barriers â physical, sensory and social barriers are designed out whenever possible
⢠Beyond access â getting there isnât enough if you canât participate once you arrive
⢠All ages + all abilities â because play and connection arenât just for children
⢠Belonging â the ultimate goal is creating a place where everyone feels invited, included and part of the fun
Accessibility gets you there.
Inclusive design lets you participate.
Belonging makes you want to stay. đ
Thatâs what weâre building at Gwendolynâs Playground . đđđŚ
All ages. All abilities. All joy.
