Throwback to 2007! 💙

Today we celebrate the Santa Barbara City Youth Council, the young leaders whose vision, voices, and hard work helped create the Twelve35 Teen Center.

This photo from the grand opening reminds us what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to lead. All these years later, Twelve35 continues to be a place where teens can connect, grow, feel supported, and belong.

Thank you to the original Youth Council members for creating a lasting legacy for generations of Santa Barbara youth.

🎤🌸 A full circle PAL moment!

We are incredibly proud of Rebecca Barreto Santana, PAL alumna and recipient of the Mariachi Festival Scholarship, who took the Mariachi Festival stage and spoke in front of more than 3,000 people!

Watching Rebecca confidently share her voice on such a huge stage is exactly what PAL is about. Creating opportunities, building confidence, and watching our young people grow into incredible leaders. 💗

A huge thank you to Richard Garnica and the Mariachi Festival for investing in our youth, supporting Rebecca through this scholarship, and giving her an unforgettable opportunity to represent PAL and her community.

Our SPAL youth experienced the best of New York City and Washington, D.C. while attending the 2026 National PAL Youth Summit. They returned home with new friendships, new perspectives, and memories they'll never forget.

Get to know the team at SBPAL!

Today’s team spotlight is focused on our Recreational Specialist, Antonio Solis.

As an alumni of SBPAL programs himself, Antonio shares: “My SBPAL Story began when I started coming to the PAL Teen Center as a youth. The programs and mentors here gave me a safe place to grow and connect. I later joined the Youth Leadership Council, which helped me build leadership skills and confidence. Today, I’m proud to serve as Recreational Specialist, giving back to the same program that shaped me.”

🏁 What a weekend!

Thanks to National PAL and NASCAR, our Santa Barbara PAL Youth Leadership Council had the opportunity to attend NASCAR race weekend at Sonoma Raceway.

Our youth got an up close look at the sport, toured the garages, and even met Lavar Scott and the incredible team at Alpha Prime Racing!

Youth ages 14–17 will get a behind the scenes look at what it takes to become a police recruit through hands on activities, physical training, teamwork challenges, leadership development, and real world law enforcement experiences.
