Our group of incredibly creative and ocean-oriented girlfriends were quick to get involved, volunteering for beach cleanups, school presentations, and taking on leadership roles to host community events. Since establishment, the Mermaids have continued to share their message locally as well as throughout Central and South American Australia, and Southeast Asia. They remain committed to their missi

on as Ambassadors to the sea and leaders in their respective communities. In 2011, China Cisney stepped up as our first Santa Barbara Mermaids Chapter President and was succeeded by Kaia Stachel-Zambryski in 2012, who also acts as Education Committee Chair. CEO, Kate Nelson continued sharing the spirit of the Mermaids throughout Central and South America, as well as Australia, before returning to Santa Barbara to focus on the local chapter. Kaia was voted into her Executive positions as COO in Fall of 2012. Kate and Kaia are committed to their mission as Ambassadors of the sea and leaders and role models in their community. They are working hard to be the change they wish to see in this big, blue world!
