We were honored to take part in yesterday's reception recognizing 2026 Valle Verde Scholarship Fund recipients at Valle Verde Theatre. Since 2005, residents of the venerable senior living community have funded a total of 305 scholarships with an aggregate value of $848,306. This year's figures – 29 scholarships worth an astounding $152,000 – are the largest one-year totals in the fund's history. Congratulations to the residents of Valle Verde and this year's recipients!

Georgette Owens (left) and Sunnie Maxwell (right) of the Charitable Foundation were kind enough to visit our Santa Barbara office last week and meet with Scholarship Foundation President and CEO Calen Ouellette. The Charitable Foundation consists of agents and employees of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties who donate time and funding in support of local nonprofits, including the Scholarship Foundation. Since its inception, the group has provided hundreds of grants to area organizations that promote health, education, community, and the environment. We appreciate the Charitable Foundation’s support!

Scholarship Foundation program advisors will lead a FAFSA beta testing workshop at Santa Maria High School later today. The U.S. Department of Education has now selected the Foundation to conduct FAFSA beta testing three years in a row, further cementing our organization's stature as a national leader in the areas of student financial aid and advisory services.
