REACH alumni from Cohorts 2018–2024, Ecuador is calling! 🇪🇨

Join us September 8–16 for a community service and cultural immersion experience in Otavalo, Ecuador. Participants will take part in community projects, stay with host families, learn about Ecuadorian and Kichwa culture, and step outside their comfort zones together.

The summer barely started and we are on trip 4! This time, to New Mexico!

With a mix of current Fellows and Alum, they took flight to Albuquerque to spend time in the Santa Fe and Taos Pueblo where they will be be exploring the rich history, cultures, and landscapes of northern New Mexico through hikes, Indigenous community experiences, museums, and meaningful conversations about identity, history, and place.

Our third trip of summer kicked off on Saturday! Our students, incoming freshman, left for their 8-day backpacking expedition – the first of four expeditions!

They will spend 8-days exploring the Sierra Nevada mountain range, overcoming distance, elevation, and negative self-talk to return with higher resiliency, social-emotional understanding, and resources to support them through their transition to college and beyond.

Our second trip of the summer has kicked off! Students said bye to their families as they headed to Perú for 20 days as part of their culminating experience with REACH.

They’ll be spending the next 20 days exploring various towns and cities in Peru, learning about its history and background from locals, and contributing to the different communities we visit.

Summer with REACH has officially begun ☀️

College Tours Trip 1 kicked things off today in Los Angeles, with students exploring USC and getting a feel for what college life can look like.

And we’re just getting started… Culminating Trip to Perú leaves Wednesday, Backpacking Trip 1 heads out Saturday, and the Culminating Trip to New Mexico takes off next Monday. Summer mode: activated!

We are looking for 2-3 people to join us for our New Mexico Trip this summer! You’ll be spending time in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos Pueblo learning about activist, advocacy, southwestern history, and arts!

Now a Cal Poly student, Hailey is serving on the EarthFest Advisory Committee and leading the Kids Zone at SLO EarthFest, creating hands-on experiences that make sustainability fun and accessible for kids.

Throwback to our backpacking expedition last summer!

Even after long days and tired legs, our students still found the energy to show off their dance moves and absolutely kill it. Turns out the trail isn’t the only place they shine ✨

And shoutout to John, one of our guides, who brought his own version of the floss… a little slower, a little more dramatic, but fully committed 😂

Moments like these remind us that joy, laughter, and community are just as much a part of the journey as the hike itself!
