Our staff and many volunteers created a fabulous Christmas bag for our clients, complete with Honey Baked Ham and Homemade Holiday Cookies donated by Community Friends of Santa Barbara, a delicious Gingerbread Cake, a wonderful box of treats provided by volunteer Ann Sonstelie and complimentary lotion donated by Mary Kay representative Mary Lou Ardohain. A robust bag of holiday meals was prepared for our clients today. Due to the fact that we are closed next week, we included two batches of soup, two casseroles, an extra-large helping of Christmas ham (sponsored by the Assistance League of Santa Barbara), homemade holiday cookies baked by members of the Assistance League and little holiday goodie bags prepared by volunteer Ann Sonstelie. All of this plus our usual cold deli salad, fresh green salad (replete with fresh persimmons), our dessert cake and bags of mandarin oranges and fresh bread! This very heavy bag of meals should feed our clients for well into next week. Happy Holidays!

Great Thanksgiving meals today, complete with all the traditional "fixins". Wonderful little "goodie bags" assembled by our volunteer Ann Sonstelie, and a great photo of our Harvest Team standing in front of our new van, donated to us by the Women's Fund of Santa Barbara!

We are delivering an inspired Easter bag today! Ham on mashed Sweet Potatoes (sponsored by the Assistance League of Santa Barbara), fresh Green Beans and a Baked Apple; a beautiful Green Salad; Tomato-Tortellini soup; Taco Casserole; Brown Rice and Kale Salad; Cranberry Swirl Cake and special "Easter Bunny" boxes of candy created by volunteer Ann Sonstelie, complete with little cotton tails on the back. All guaranteed to give our clients a big smile and a full belly!

A fantastic Valentine’s bag for our clients today, including Tri-Tip sponsored by the Assistance League of Santa Barbara, little goodie bags for our clients made by volunteer Ann Sonstelie, and custom valentines made by 10-year-old volunteer Sophia! A wonderful and very thoughtful bag of food and goodies all prepared with love.

Fantastic Christmas meals today including ham donated by the Assistance League of Santa Barbara, a beautiful green salad with persimmons, a huge bag of fruit harvested by Congregation B'nai B'rith of Santa Barbara, special "goodie" boxes for our clients created by volunteer Ann Sonstelie, a selection of Mary Kay cosmetics and socks donated by Mary Lou Ardohain and holiday cookies made by members of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara. To top it off, John Palminteri from KEYT News Channel 3-12 filmed a short story about us. A very successful Thanksgiving feast was delivered to our clients today, including among other things a full turkey dinner, a beautiful green salad, corn chowder and little Thanksgiving "goodie boxes" created by our volunteer Ann Sonstelie. Special thanks to several volunteers plus the Assistance League of Santa Barbara for sponsoring the turkeys! In addition, this week some of the grandchildren of our harvesters joined in their harvest of mandarin oranges... what a wonderful way for families to gather and "give back" during this holiday!

Special thanks to the Dream Foundation's Flower Empower program and Westerlay Orchids for donating orchid plants which were included with our deliveries last week, as well as given to our volunteers as a special "thank you" gesture. Our clients were thrilled with this special surprise in their bags!

This week's "Memorial Day" menu included the most beautiful baby back ribs funded by the Assistance League of Santa Barbara, a beautiful green salad, a big container of turkey chili, mac and cheese, cole slaw and a delicious applesauce cake! I'm sure our clients felt well fed with such perfect "comfort food".
