World Dance for Humanity Dance Locally, Act Globally! Founded by Janet Reineck in 2010, World Dance for Humanity bridges cultures through movement and helps communities in need.

Based in Santa Barbara, California, World Dance was founded by Janet Reineck in 2010 as a low-cost exercise class that would bring together the best of world dance and music to get us in shape and inspired. But it is much more than that: it has become a nonprofit supported by an enthusiastic community of dancers who come together to build a deep connection with each other and with communities in distant lands. We are now helping 28 government sanctioned cooperatives in Rwanda, left divided and destitute by the 1994 genocide. Our work in Rwanda is simple, direct, manageable, and sustainable. Every dollar contributed through class or donated helps ease suffering and build new lives, thanks to a donation which has covered our minimal administrative expenses.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our World Dance community, we were able to send $12,000 to Venezuela for emergency aid relief after the devastating earthquakes in July. Your donations have helped provide medicine, hygiene products, blankets, towels, food, diapers, and children's educational workbooks and games to 200 people (150 children) who have been displaced, in addition to helping to cover for food and gas for the volunteers who are travelling 10 hours back and forth to procure goods across the border in Colombia. And there are still enough funds to be able to procure a large tent that will act as a temporary school for displaced children.

World Dance is extremely thankful to dancer Alexandra Duran, her family in Caracas, the Municipal Council of Pedro MarΓa UreΓ±a, the volunteers on the ground, and our generous community of dancers and donors. Gracias para sus corazones abiertos. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή
