🌊 Changing Tides: Healing Through Community
At Youth GONA, we practice the Changing Tides Healing Model, inspired by the Tomol, the traditional Chumash plank canoe.
Just like a canoe moves best when everyone paddles together, healing happens when community comes together with purpose and care.
🛶 Our four core components:
✔️ Safe Space
✔️ Cultural Wisdom
✔️ Skill Building
✔️ Community Connection

Each youth plays a vital role in creating waves of positive change—for themselves and their community.

💬 What is GONA?

GONA—Gathering of Native Americans—is a culturally based healing and wellness process where participants come together to address community‑identified issues in a supportive and uplifting space.

Since 2019, AIH&S has hosted GONA events in many forms—overnight camps, day gatherings, and virtual spaces—all centered on healing, connection, and cultural strength.

This year, we return to an overnight camping experience, designed especially for youth to grow together through culture, reflection, and community.

🌿 This is more than a camp—it’s a journey.
