Flash Mob Day of Service was a hot one! But that didn’t stop Sunrisers from getting our hands dirty and getting a lot done at beautiful Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden! We weeded, trimmed, raked and mulched, helping give the garden a little extra TLC. A big thank-you to Hailey, Todd and Betsy from the city's park staff for their help and guidance, and to Diana for organizing such a wonderful morning of service.

We had a great turnout for our Rotary Sunrise tour of the new Sanctuary Centers of Santa Barbara Health & Housing Center, led by President Barry Schoer.

It was inspiring to see this exciting new facility firsthand and learn more about the services it will provide to our community. We’re proud to support Sanctuary Centers with our contribution and a District Grant supporting youth and adolescent mental health services.

We’re proud to support Sanctuary Centers of Santa Barbara with a contribution toward its new Health & Housing Center. President Angelique and Community Service Committee member, Co***rd Hogan, presented the check to Barry Schoer, President of Sanctuary Centers. We’re excited to see this new facility take shape and to play a small part in helping Sanctuary Centers expand vital services in our community.

Our Rotary members are active throughout our community! Sandra O’Meara, Judith McCaffrey and Karen Kawaguchi are also members of the Coastal Quilters Guild, and Sandra serves on its board. They’re pictured here with President Angelique and Chris Baxter beside Judith’s award-winning quilt. And behind the scenes, Dan O’Meara and Stephen Frangos were also lending a hand to help make the show happen.

Come see Judith, Sandra and Karen and their quilts along with 200+ others! The quilt show continues today at 10 a.m. – 4 p.m at Earl Warren Showgrounds.

Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise joined volunteers at El Capitan Beach for Coastal Cleanup Day, with Julie De Angelis leading the effort for our beach.

Together, 27 volunteers cleaned 30 miles of coastline, collecting 25 pounds of trash and 8 pounds of recyclables. And among the more unusual discoveries? A Labubu and a mini Jesus!

Thank you to Julie, Melissa B. and President Angelique for representing Sunrise at El Capitan, and to Margie W. and Stephen F. for volunteering at other beaches. Every piece of trash removed helps keep our coastline beautiful.

What an inspiring afternoon at the Rotary District 5240 Foundation Gala Luncheon! Together, our District contributed an incredible $1.2 million to The Rotary Foundation in 2025-26, helping make projects possible in our local communities and around the world.

We learned about three inspiring District and Global Grant projects, celebrated TRF Major Donors and our newest Arch Klumph Society members Dave and Olivia Gore, heard a performance by cellist and Rotary Peace Fellow Diego Carneiro, and got an update on the fight to End Polio Now, including Hans and Helena Dahlin’s incredible 13,000-foot skydive!

Guests enjoyed cuisines from Australia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, and America and a spirited dessert auction in the beautiful garden of DG Margarida Eidson and Clif Simonson. The afternoon was a wonderful reminder of the difference we can make when we give and serve together.
